Hi there! I love to create a new makeup routine every season. It's a lot of fun. Change is good and it's always nice to enjoy the small things!β™₯

This season I have newly colored burgundy hair and I decided to use jewel toned makeup colors to accent my pale skin and hazel eyes. I mix shades of plum, dark purple and bright yellow to create a fun eye makeup look!

Here's a little peek into my 10 most beloved items from my winter makeup bag! I tend to use inexpensive makeup mixed with a few more pricey items that are worth their weight in gold. πŸ˜‰ Without further ado… Here's my must have list: 1. Foundation by Neutrogena… my favorite. 2. Burt's Bees lip shimmer in Fig. I love this for a little bit (but not too much) color. 3. Burt's Bees super shiny lip gloss in Zesty Red. This is the prettiest lip gloss and it tastes like raspberries! 4. Physician's Formula eyeshadow. I love these perfect jewel tones. Yellow eyeshadow is my absolute favorite and even better for winter when mixed with plum tones. 5. My two favorite nail polish colors of the season… grey and mint green. 6. The most wonderful concealer ever made by Make Up For Ever. It works like a charm! 7. Faux lashes. A holiday must! They're so much fun to wear to parties and nights out. 8. Eyeliner and brow liner. I suggest a brow liner that is lighter than what your natural color so that it blends perfectly. 9. Hard Candy sparkle eyeshadow. love it! 10. Cover Girl blush in Iced Cappuccino.β™₯ Have a lovely day! Elsie

  • ohhh sooo pretty. i used to play with different eyeshadow colours all the time. lately though i have just been doing the same thing all the time. you have inspired me to mix it up a bit πŸ™‚

  • Love it! As I’m rather very pale with dark brown eyes and hair I think jewel toned colours should look great on me too… There’s something to add to my shopping list then πŸ˜‰ thanks!

  • High five! I use that same foundation, blush, and lip gloss in those same shades!

  • Amanda, I only use the concealer for eye circles (it’s rather heavy). I use the foundation for all over/daily wear. It’s nice & light. πŸ™‚

  • You look beautiful. I was meant to be getting my hair dyed red this week but after seeing this post I’m craving a plum colour :O Oh Elsie, you inspire me too much!

  • Love your hair color, Elsie. It’s perfect on you! Thanks for some makeup tips. I’m a little bit dyslexic when it comes to knew routines. I’ve been wanting to mix things up so thanks a lot for this post! πŸ™‚

  • you’re so pretty! I printed a couple of photos of you (the comic strip engagement photos w/your beau) to show my hairdresser for my ‘up-do’ for my holiday party. Such understated classy elegance! thanks for sharing your life w/us ~~

    xoxo, courtney

  • Minty nail polish is my favorite lately! I really love Revlon’s “Minted”. It’s the best formula as it lasts for days. I haven’t tried out any gray colors yet but I’ll have to give it a shot. Great post! πŸ™‚

  • I have a question Elsie (oh and nice makeup!) Are you going to change your last name when you marry Mr. Larson? Curious….Best wishes!

  • Oooh yay! Always looking for new things to do with make-up. It’s so much fun to get all bedazzled (especially around the holidays) πŸ™‚

  • Your skin is perfect! I have a thing about perfect skin, b/c mine is not.

I want to run out and buy new eyeshadow now.

    Fun post!

  • hi! thanks for all the kind words!

  • Love this post! Ur makeup looks beautiful!
question: what shade are ur foundation and concealer?
    Thanks!

  • Such a fun post! πŸ™‚ And your photos are lovely! I have hazel eyes, too, and I love using purple eye shadows and liners to bring out the green flecks in them. Clinique makes a fabulous purple liner called Starry Plum. πŸ™‚

  • Elsie, you look so pretty! Those colours are perfect for your colouring – gorgeous πŸ™‚

I have to ask too, what is the name of the fonts that you used to write “winter makeup” and “tips” in the first photo of this post? They are awesome!

  • Elsie! Your hair is gorgeous. I have been wanting to dye my hair a burgandy/plumish color for some time now (my mother isn’t crazy about it, but I need to change things up)… do you have someone dye your hair or do you just buy hair dye at the store?? I’m trying to figure out which way to go!

  • Your hair color is so fab!! Im so boring when it comes to trying new and cool colors! The eye make up looks so perfect with it! πŸ™‚

  • such a fun post!!…..i love make up!!…..esp yelllow eyeshadow…..got myself a treat a few mths ago + got some Mac eyeshadow!!……also the best tips I learnt about make up recently its all about the blending + having good makeup brushes!!…..what about eyelash curlers….do you use them?

  • So… I am Caucasian, and my skin color is constantly changing do to the amount of sun that I’m exposed to. My neck is naturally about 2 shades darker than my face, and every time I go to get a new concealer I can never get a close enough color! It’s either too pink, or too dark… Any suggestions?
