I’m so so so so so excited about this space. I feel like I want to give it a fancy nickname like “bubblebath haven” or “the golden lodge” (please help me find the perfect nickname??) because it feels so absolutely indulgent to have a master bathroom. I mean, I would’t really know YET because we haven’t used it yet as it’s still being renovated. But taking my first bubblebath is becoming my number one fantasy. Hahaha!
So, here are the before pics!
(Sorry for my awkward pose! I don’t have the skills to photoshop myself out. Haha!)
I’m completely new to renovating and I would have just left everything the same about this layout and changed all the finishes. But my friend who is WAY more experienced in renovating talked me into changing the layout of this room just a little bit to make it more open, more modern and more beautiful.
After opening up my mind to possibilities, I was SO excited. I loved the closet part of the room, but the bathtub, shower and vanity felt outdated and just really needed to be refreshed.
Here’s the closet area. I love it SO much! I feel like by the time it’s done I can make it feel like Lucille Ball’s closet or something way fun! Lot of space for clothing, accessories and everyday essentials.
The inside of the bathroom wasn’t as great. The tile floors were pretty, but very cracked.
We decided to move this wall out just a little bit to make room for a clawfoot tub.
The shower felt VERY small and cramped. But the contractors were able to move the walls out just a little bit and it made a huge difference. There was rotten wood and mold in there anyway, so it had to be repaired.
I am very excited to share our progress with you! The rooms are getting close to being done on the remodeling side. But I haven’t even started to think about decorations yet. One day at a time, you guys! 🙂 I’ll share an update very soon! xx- Elsie
I love those closet doors! Can’t wait to see the end result!
You have GOT to keep those chandeliers!!
Love seeing these befores! Looks like the people who lived there before were super fancy! Chandeliers everywhere – even the bathroom!
I wish my husband let me remodel and redecorate our home. I’m afraid I have very little free way. Your ideas are always so daring and beautiful!

I love the bedroom even Before!!
I can’t wait to see the reveal – I love clawfoot tubs! http://angelaboykoart.com
Lol, WHAT is going on with the bathroom ceiling!?
Seriously dying to see the results of the remodel.
Looks awesome, and I can’t wait to see the final product. It’s almost like old-fashioned, and I totally agree with the Lucille Ball’s amazing closet comment. The shower looks about the size of most Irish showers, can’t decide if that’s a bad thing or a horrible thing. And I lived in a place with a carpeted bathroom recently – it was a rental, so that just makes me cringe. xx
I can’t wait to see what is going to happen!!

I’m in love with that honeycomb-like floor, I would definitely keep it in some way! But please get rid of that awful shower, it’s really outdated!

Haha!! Yeah- I took a shower in it and it was ok, but those extra inches in the updated version made a HUGE improvement!!

Haha!! I can see that!

The more I look at the pics of your house, the more it reminds me of The Shining! Lol! Can’t wait ’til it’s done!
Oh goodie! I love the molding on the doors, too. A full-length mirror will be perfect in with the rest of this. Can’t wait to see this space done up!
That shower does look tiny! http://www.hannamarielei.com
This is really cool. I love this ensuite bathroom/walk in closet/getting ready room, I’ve never seen anything like this before. The whole house is kinda surreal to me. I’m from central Europe and our houses just don’t look like this. At least the older ones definitely don’t.
Agreed that those chandeliers are amazing! I’m so glad that they have gone to a good home since you weren’t able to utilize them. 🙂
I love your doors also- absolutely stunning. I am so excited to see what you do with your space!
A lot of nice homes were full of carpet in the 70s, 80s and 90s! It’s crazy how much it’s changed since them. And I still think carpet is a great option for a lot of people (my friends with kids love it!) but I personally do love hardwoods and tile if I have a choice. :))

I already donated them to a friend of ours! :)) I love them too (a LOT) but they didn’t match the overall vibe we were going for in the house so we decided not to keep.

Hey Shaenelle,
I didn’t hire a designer and I never have so I can’t really comment on that experience. My friends who have done it have loved their experiences! I’m sure it would be nice to have someone experienced to help make all those little decisions! :)) Definitely look into all the options and get quotes before you decide!
I love managing the projects and picking out every little detail, though!
