I’ve been starting to see back-to-school supplies and some fall decor creeping into stores, and I have to say I am so ready for it!!! I tried to embrace summer a little more and while I think I did to an extent, I still can’t contain my excitement for my favorite season. One of the things I did this year to help me really embrace summer was to completely (try to) throw out all instances of “I need to cover up my body because it’s not good enough.” I decided my comfort was the most important thing this summer, and it has made such a huge difference! I’ve been rocking tank bodysuits and shorty shorts and swimsuits and I’ve gotta tell ya, it feels so good to be COMFORTABLE. Just a little pep talk if you’re needing one from a girl who used to refuse to wear anything but jeans in the summer! 🙂 Here are a few things I’ve been loving:
I mentioned on Instagram stories a few weeks ago that I started roller skating. I am really loving it, especially at the rink! Here are the skates I got that I absolutely adore. I was also considering the Moxi Lollys, but these fit my feet perfectly.
These toe guards are the perfect addition to my skates! Who couldn’t use a little pink glitter in their lives?! I went with the rhinestone hardware and got so many compliments at the rink last weekend when I put these on.
My sister got me this customizable bag for my birthday from Daily Disco where she works as a chain stitch embroiderer! I really like everything about it, especially the fact that it’s roomy and has a zip-top.
I just purchased this makeup bag and it’s essentially the mini-version of what the pros use. There are hard dividers that you can move around and customize to your liking. I’m so into having a designated compartment for complexion, eyes, lashes, etc.
This is the best makeup blending sponge I’ve ever used. I saw it on TikTok, had to try it, and I’m so glad I did! It has a velvet texture that gives a beautiful airbrush finish, but it doesn’t soak up a lot of product like my other blenders have done in the past.
Just want to thank the Good & Gather brand for coming out with my favorite flavor of sparkling water EVER.
Snagged this faux fiddle leaf for our laundry room (it’ll be on the blog this week) and it looks amazing. Perfect for any corner or spot that needs a little somethin’!
In love with this mid-century mustard wallpaper. Could be so cute in a kitchen or a garden-themed room.
I’m a sucker for anything pop music, so when I saw this on Netflix, I had to check it out. It’s been very insightful and mostly a fun watch with moments of “Oh shit, i can’t believe that happened.” The Boyz II Men episode was heartbreaking (explores the whitewashing of R&B), the history of autotune blew my mind, and the deep dive into Swedish pop producers and writers was so wild.
This French New Wave-inspired Clueless print is too cute.
Have an AMAZING week ahead!! xo Keely
Keely – I just had to come here to say that I love your voice! There’s something really captivating about the way your write and I’m always excited to see that you have a post up on the site. Also, couldn’t agree more about rocking shorts when it’s hot. I feel like there was a certain point in my mid-thirties when I decided I didn’t give af about cellulite anymore and my summers have been so much more comfortable since then.
This is a very sweet compliment, Lindsay. Thank you so much! I’m so glad you’ve also been able to find comfort in the summer time. 🙂 xo
I don’t usually comment, but I had to! Your words on embracing comfort vs just wearing jeans and being hot is spot on. I used to only wear jeans, but it’s way too hot for that nonsense! I’ve embraced shorts and am so glad I did. Your picture up top is beautiful
Thank you so much, George! So glad you’ve embraced comfort, too!
I’ve followed (and LOVED!) this blog for a long time and just wanted to say thank you for talking about comfort in the summer! I think a lot of us have spent too much time covering up, passing on a chance to swim, and sweating in uncomfortable clothes on hot days. Comfort makes summer so much more enjoyable!
Agreed!!! I used to hate summer so much and while I still don’t love the heat, I think I just made myself unnecessarily miserable for many years which definitely added to my distaste! Summer is much more fun now. 🙂
I had to comment on the cute outfit pic! I attended a bridal brunch yesterday, and the MOH was wearing a very similar outfit she’d styled from a Billabong picture. At first I couldn’t quite wrap my head around it, but the more I saw how cute and comfortable she was, the more I loved it! So when I saw this picture this morning, I realized I could rock it too. Yes, I live in a very casual area of the country, but feeling cute and comfortable and a little on trend (especially this summer!) is so, so fun.
Cute and comfortable = THE MANTRA!
I don’t usually comment, but I had to! Your words on embracing comfort vs just wearing jeans and being hot is spot on. I used to only wear jeans, but it’s way too hot for that nonsense! I’ve embraced shorts and am so glad I did. Your picture up top is beautiful — you are someone who really sparkles! Can’t wait to see the laundry room post. I have a large laundry room and am not sure how to best utilize all the space. <3
Way to go, Mary! Shorts forever! 🙂
