After our first glass etching adventure we were excited to try out more designs. We decided to try a set of mason jar cups with an etched polka dot pattern. The dot pattern is inspired by a Kate Spade vase that I received as a wedding gift… it's so cute and I thought the concept would translate really well to drinking glasses.
1. Supplies: scissors, etching cream (we used Armour Etch ), mason jars, contact paper, sponge brush, gloves for protection. 2. First, cut out large circles in the contact paper. 3. Then, apply them all over the mason jars. 4. Next, following the detailed instructions of the etching cream when applying it to the mason jars. You want to pay close attention to the instructions on the cream since it can be extremely dangerous if it comes in contact with you skin. Follow all safety guidelines. Here's a link to the instructions we used to learn. We leave our cream on for about three minutes. 5. Next, remove the contact paper and wash cream off in running water. Use a sponge and don't be afraid to really scrub it until the cream is completely gone. 6. All finished! Enjoy your new glasses. Your new glasses are dishwasher safe.
Have fun creating your own custom etched glass set! xo. elsie + emma
These are adorable! How did you get them colored?

super cute idea….thanks for sharing!!!!
It’ s so cute.. !!! 😀 But how did you make it red in the end?
OMG!!you will definitely have the best things!i will try to make it.
I got it to work, but I had to really really load the stuff onto the jars to get it even.
those are so cute. I just tried making them last night and my prototype just didn’t work. I did it exactly to the instructions, but the etching didn’t come out consistently. I tried again and put more on and left it on longer and still no luck. I’m disappointed as I was making them for a hipster tomboy bowling hen night as favours. Back to the drawing board, I guess. Anyone have any ideas?
I love polkadots!
Great idea ^^

Love it! Have you tried using Frosted Glass Spray?
YES. I’ve been wanting to make one of these (heart patterned) forever and was too lazy to figure out how to do it. I think this is a sign I need to get off my ass and finally do it. THANK YOU!

I’m definitely going to try this project at home. I grew up in the deep south so I love the fact that this cool design is done on mason jars. Thanks for sharing!
