I’m excited to announce next month’s ABM Book Club selection: Jhumpa Lahiri’s The Lowland. I have been a fan of Lahiri since being “forced” to read Interpreter of Maladies in college. I truly loved The Namesake (both the book and film) and am very excited to read her most current novel. It’s won a few big awards and garnered a lot of good press. (No big deal.) So my expectations are way up! March is going to be a fantastic month to join in if you’ve been on the fence about this whole book club thing.Â
Also, we will be discussing The Fault in our Stars on Friday, February 28. I think we should have a contest over who used the most tissues while reading this book. Right? I think I *might* win that one. 🙂 xo. Emma

Im am so enjoying the lowlands, however I am so worried I wont make it to read it all on time… So distressed…
I’m a little late in starting to read The Fault in our Stars, but I managed to finish it while on our family Spring Break. I literally (love this in the book) could’t put it down. In fact, I went to bed with the book and an hour later found myself carry it and a handfull of tear stained, decomposing tissues with me to use the restroom. (See, I literally could not put it down!) Thank you for this selection, and I look forward to reading The Lowlands and all future ABM book club selections.
I’ve been loving this read! Extra tissues needed since I’m also a mommy-to-be – so those hormones have me extra weepy with this story! Looking forward to joining the discussion 🙂

I´m a bit late, but I loved this book. It was great, I love that your doing this, you always come up with really good books. When I read both laughed and cried, a great book in other words

I think it is awesome that you guys are doing a virtual book club! I didn’t read The Fault in Our Stars (I started it, but things like that in all their gory detail creep me out), but I am super excited to join in for March! Going to order The Lowland from the library right now!
Looking forward to this one. Just placed a hold on the ebook with my library for Kindle app. 🙂
Oh my goodness, her books always make me cry! Lets get a readin’!
I absolutely loved “the fault is in our starts” , I went by your recommendation last moth and read it in less than a week.. 🙂 I’m looking forward to this one.
I just stumbled upon you the other day, and I love you blog!
I’m absolutely sold to the fact that you have monthly little book clubs here, too! And also that you’ve finished reading Fault in Our Stars (currently started first couple of pages, but it’s on my smartphone’s Kindle app, and I prefer actual book in hand. It’s distracting!). I’ve loved what I’ve read so far.
And I LOVE Jhumpa Lahiri’s works, too! I was fortunate enough to hear her speak on my campus last year I believe. Her and Margaret Atwood.
Sold (even more)!

CRAZY. I just happened to finish The Fault In Our Stars today unaware of the fact it is February’s book club pick! Ah, I am so excited to talk about it on Friday! Yay :]
… Going to download the next book on my Nook now!
It’s interesting to see what you can learn about a person by their book choices. I loved The Fault in Our Stars, but the January read and this one are both way out of my zones. It’s definitely stretching to read stuff that you’re not usually drawn to.
are the monthly emails still coming out? i haven’t seen one in what seems like awhile.
Hi would like to know how do you join the ABM? Is it simply reading the book that is for the month and later on we join a section of the webiste for discussion?
Thanks
Oooh, I just finished that book and loved it. Also a big fan of hers. I’m looking forward to discussing this book.
Thanks for the recommendation! I just bought the book via iBooks. Can’t wait to get started on it. Btw It says that the e book also contains a guide for book groups. Might be helpful 🙂

OMG is it time for the March selection already?! I haven’t had time to start February’s pick! :/ is it just me, or did this month FLY by??
This was definitely worth the read but it wasn’t my favorite of her novels. I actually wrote a book review on it for my blog: http://www.fashionablecollections.com/2013/11/the-lowland.html I’m a huge fan of Jhumpa Lahiri.
