You might already know this, but I'm a cabbage fan. To me, cabbage tastes very similar to my all-time favorite vegetable: brussels sprouts! Yum.
This side dish recipe is sort of like a roasted wedge salad. This would be fantastic next to a main course (meat or otherwise) or as a lighter lunch option (like I ate it, as you can see). Either way, if you are a honey mustard fan, you'll likely love this, so be sure to give it a try.
Honey Mustard Roasted Cabbage, serves 4 as a side or 2 as a meal.
1/2 head of cabbage
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup bread crumbs (I used Panko)
salt + pepper
In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons olive oil with the honey and mustard. Whisk to combine. The remaining 1 tablespoon of oil can be used to coat your baking sheet.
Slice the cabbage into thick wedges. You can reserve the rest of the cabbage for stir fry another night. Brush the wedges with the honey mustard glaze. Sprinkle on the bread crumbs. Then season with salt and pepper. Roast at 400°F for 35-40 minutes until the edges begin to turn dark brown and look crispy.
Eat your veggies, guys, especially if they are coated in honey mustard. Enjoy! xo. Emma

I just made this with maple syrup in place of the honey. It was fabulous.
My husband and son love honey-mustard on chicken tenders. If I’m out of honey, I use Splenda instead. Can hardly tell the difference. They call it Mom’s Fake Honey-Mustard.
Here in Israel we have something called Silan which is a syrup made from dates that tastes very similar to honey. Maybe that could work?
Yum. I love cabbage AND honey mustard so this is a win win for me. Can’t wait to try this recipe.
Oh yum! Honey mustard is one of my favourites. I just made some mustard collard greens a few days ago and this would be great to add to them.
So simple but looks delicious!
I like to cook with cabbage a lot, but I have to admit that I don’t think I’ve ever roasted it like this. Can’t wait to give it a try!

I love cabbage, but am never very creative with it. Usually just in salads, or I love to cut it in wedges and use it as chips for dips. I will def be trying this out soon!
Dear ABM Team!

Never tried honey mustard… And, well, I must!

My husband will adore this! I had never thought to cook cabbage this way. Now I’m super excited and ready to try!
We had roasted cabbage tonight! We use it instead of pasta with spaghetti sauce. Bake it the same way you do, with olive oil and spices Fennel is particularly good!
Perfect! I always hate seeing fresh veggies go bad before I can get around to cooking them. It happens from time to time but always a real bummer.

Hmm. Honestly in this case I’m not sure of a good substitute. Normally I’d say maple syrup but I don’t think that would be all that good in this particular dish. You might just roasting with olive oil and adding a squeeze of fresh lemon instead for flavor (as suggested by a reader above).
Good luck my vegan friend!

Sounds wonderful. I am a massive lemon lover. 🙂

This recipe couldn’t come at a better time. Yesterday, I made your shrimp pad thai with cabbage instead of brussel sprouts. So I had some leftover and it went perfectly with my steak. It was so yummy. Thanks.
I am not really a cabbage lover, but I think I would try this
