Hey, friends! We had such an incredible time in Iceland, and today we just wanted to share a few photos from our trip with you.
The Blue Lagoon did not disappoint. It was absolutely stunning in person and by FAR the warmest thing we did in Iceland (haha!), which I loved. The color is absolutely incredible. I highly recommend it and will do it again next time we visit.
If you’re curious how we were able to get so many photos in the water at the Blue Lagoon, you can check out our underwater camera gear here.
The next day, we took a tour of the Golden Circle with the Mountaineers of Iceland. They have all sorts of different tours available (we did the Pearl tour), and we had a great experience!
It was SO beautiful everywhere you looked.
Also, SO cold. Brrrrrr. In mid October, when we went, the weather was in the high 40s (Fahrenheit), so we tried to bundle up as best we could and make the most of it!
Haha! I’m glad we got a pic together, but I can kind of see the pain on our faces. Haha! Oh well—it was SO pretty and right after this photo, we had soup!
What a view. (Part of the tour we went on included snowmobiling on a glacier…whoa.)
This little courtyard made our day! It was such a fun thing to run into on our walk to lunch.
The Kex Hostel. We grabbed lunch here and loved it. One of the best meals we had on our trip, actually, and such a cute spot!
We fell in love with the pizza place with no name. SO good. We got the potato pizza and the spicy fries…twice.
This is the church where you can go up to the top to get pics of the colorful roofs.

Hi Ladies,
I love the pictures you took during your stay in Iceland. I’m actually looking into planning a trip to Iceland this year. As I was researching I remembered that you had made this post a while back. I wanted to ask you, where did you guys land when you arrived in Iceland?
Michelle
Hi Michelle! They landed in Reykjavik. 🙂
This brings back awesome memories for me! Glad you had a great time 🙂
Looks absolutely stunning 😀
Now I remember why I always wanted to go to iceland Its beautiful
Your pictures make want to go there instantly
Love these recommendations! I also wonder how people get those pictures of Iceland haha

I would definitely skip the Blue lagoon next time because it’s so freakin’ commercial. When you do a round trip of Iceland you have Myvatn Nature Baths in the north, which are completely similar to the Blue lagoon, but about half the price and half the number of people. Additionally, a lot of farmers have hot tubs on their lands, which for a couple of bucks, you can go in and enjoy for as long as you like. My boyfriend and I hot tubbed our way around Iceland and purposely skipped the Blue Lagoon because there’s just so many other wonderful places to dip yourself in that weirdly warm and funny smellin’ water. Your pictures make me so terribly homesick of Iceland. I never want to go any other place than that strange land anymore.
The blue lagoon should be very comfortable. I haven’t been to Iceland. Someday I will =)
We didn’t like the blue lagoon since we stayed at the blue lagoon hotel the private pool was way better so I guess it ruined our blue lagoon experience. :p

Hey Robin,
I think it could be, but if I went with a kiddo I’d probably pick the summertime (since it’s the warmest time of the year) they told me July-August are best. It’s supposed to be still kind of chilly, but not SUPER cold.

Hi Emma,
Yes, the food and drink was expensive (more than New York prices). We didn’t get to see the Northern Lights this time. 🙁

Oooooh I want to go so bad!! What amazing photos! Would you say it’s a kid friendly destination, I’m having to figure out a whole new way of traveling now that I have a toddler(no more pub crawls darn it!). And I may have already asked but have you guys seen the documentary “Heima” about the band Sigur Ros going home and playing shows all over Iceland? It’s so good.
Love this! I would love to know more about your trip to Iceland and the places you stayed. It looks beautiful!
This is on my bucket list before I’m turning 50’s
