Hey, friends! We’re so excited to share some fun ideas for embellishing your balloons today! We’ve all seen the pretty tassels you can make for balloons (like the ones we made for Emma’s wedding reception), and we thought it would be fun to create some fresh alternatives!
With the holiday season in full swing, we know you are on the lookout for cute, fresh party ideas! Here are five easy ways to embellish your balloons!
For this post, we inflated all our balloons using the Balloon Time Jumbo Helium Tank, and I have to say it’s kind of amazing to be able to do this at home.
It let us get a lot more custom with our ideas, and it was super easy to use! We could easily fill all six balloons for this post with one jumbo tank.
For the honeycomb string, you can use honeycombs in mini 1″ and larger 5″ sizes.
Just cut off the strings and use the adhesive tabs to close the honeycomb around the balloon string. It’s easier to start at the bottom and work upwards so they stack on each other.
For the hanging garland strands, simply staple the top of your garland to the top of the balloon string and let the garland hang down.
You can either let them all hang to the floor and puddle a bit like I did with these larger garlands, or you can cut a smaller fringe garland to be different lengths so it creates a shaggy effect.
Why not add some balloons to your balloon? Blow up some mini balloons and use glue dots to stack them on top of each other the height of your balloon strand.
Use the glue dots to attach your balloon string to the mini balloons and it will look like the mini balloons are supporting your larger balloon above.
Use a pretty glitter paper and some circle punches to create different circles and attach them with double sided tape (wrong sides together) down the balloon string. Punch a few different sizes of circles for a variated look.
Grab some glittery tinsel to create a furry looking string! Just cut sections of tinsel, wrap around the balloon string, and staple the top of the tinsel to the string about every 6″ to create this glittery shaggy look.
Which idea is your favorite? I’m kind of partial to the mini balloons!
You can also make an easy fancy balloon arch for a party as well! Happy Holiday party-throwing!! It’s the best time of the year. xx- Elsie
Such a great information. This is really very helpful for bloggers love u so much.
Thanks for the wonderful ideas!
It is very beautiful but where can I find it? Because I am from another country
Hey… So I tried one where I hung photographs on the string… but the balloon simply wouldn’t take the weight and kept falling down.. a helium one 🙁
is it the kind of helium I am using or the weight of the photo paper?
I’m glad I came across this post! Were you able to fill up all balloons with just one “balloon time jumbo tank”. I have six 36 inch balloons I need to fill up, but it seems some of the tanks don’t have enough helium
Why siZe were your balloons ?
What fun!!! My daughter’s birthday is not only the week of Christmas, but the week before an out-of-state move. Yet, she’s begging for a little party. Maybe this will dress up our hot cocoa and cookie decorating event we are planning. Super fun idea!
I like the mini balloons best too! 🙂
How fun! I love all the different ideas!

It isn’t an opinion, it is a fact, there is an international shortage of helium for medical and industrial purposes and many articles over the past 5 years are encouraging reduction in ‘recreational’ use of helium. Encouraging your readers to use it and buy it is unethical.
These ideas are so cute! I love balloons!

This is AMAZING!! I would never think of decorating the bottom of the balloons. Saving this for later!!

I am so sorry to post a negative comment…..but there is a severe worldwide helium shortage. Helium is used in medical equipment and it is such a waste to have it used on balloons.
It is not reported enough in the news and you simply can’t make helium. It is a shame nobody cares about it. Imagine not being able to have a lifesaving medical procedure that involves helium because it’s used in a balloon.
Sorry to be a negative nelly, but I am passionate about it.
I absolutely love this!!! So cute and chic!
How fun!! These are so cute and whimsical!
These are so cute and festive, I love the colors! My favorite is the one with the mini balloons attached to the bottom.

I love being able to inflate balloons at home! So much better than trying to stuff them in my tiny car and keep them from popping on the drive home! 🙂
