Make-Your-Own-Healthy-Orange-Cream-Popsciles-11With two young kids, I love finding and making healthy snack foods because it seems like they are always hungry! Fresh fruit is always an easy go to snack and we all love Wonderful Halos because not only are they easy for the kids to serve and peel themselves, but they are so sweet and juicy. I love having a bowl of them on our kitchen table that the kids can grab whenever they are hungry. As a special treat, I will even turn a few into mandarin cream popsicles with granola. My kids love them because they think they are getting a special naturally sweet treat (especially when I let them eat them for breakfast), and I love them because they are a simple and healthy snack. We’ve teamed up with Wonderful Halos mandarins to share the recipe for these mandarin orange cream popsicles that are good for breakfast, snacks, or as a slightly sweet after dinner treat.

Make-Your-Own-Healthy-Orange-Cream-Popsciles-5Mandarin Orange Cream Popsicles (makes 10 standard sized popsicles)

7 peeled Wonderful Halos Mandarins
16 ounces vanilla greek yogurt
Granola pieces (optional)
Popsicle mold and popsicle sticks

Make-Your-Own-Healthy-Orange-Cream-Popsciles-5Begin by peeling your mandarins, then puree in a blender or food processor. Next, add a spoonful of pureed mandarins into each popsicle mold and then add a spoonful of vanilla yogurt. Continue layering the two until there is a 1/2″ gap at the top of the mold. Fill this gap with granola, pressing it down into the yogurt. Then add your popsicle stick and freeze for 4 hours or until solid. Run the mold under hot water to unmold the popsicles to serve.

Make-Your-Own-Healthy-Orange-Cream-Popsciles-5I kept my layers fairly separate because I love the contrast of the citrus and the creamy vanilla yogurt, but you could always mix the pureed mandarin oranges and yogurt for a more well blended popsicle.

I may have been caught eating one or two after taking these photos! The contrast of the bright and juicy Wonderful Halos mandarins with the creamy yogurt is the perfect combo. And once you add in that crunchy granola, it’s like a smoothie bowl in frozen popsicle form! Yum! xo. Kara

Mandarin Orange Cream Popsicles

Servings 10 people

Ingredients

  • 7 peeled Wonderful Halos Mandarins
  • 16 ounces vanilla greek yogurt
  • Granola pieces optional
  • Popsicle mold and popsicle sticks
