4 Easy Ways To Gift Wrap A Wine Bottle

Have you ever felt like gifting a wine bottle felt a little “lazy” compared to giving other gifts? I don’t think it’s so much the actual gift (I mean, I will gladly accept a gift of wine any day!!) more so that the wrapping isn’t usually as fun when giving a bottle of wine or alcohol, so it can feel a little lackluster … but not anymore! Here are four fun ways to dress up your wine bottle and make it feel a little more special, and they are all really quick to complete, which is a nice bonus, too!

1. Dress up your wine (literally!): OK, I can’t be the only person who thinks a wine bottle in a little hat and sweater is freaking adorable! You can do a Santa-type outfit for the holidays (or reindeer!), a sweater for winter/Thanksgiving, or a more general cover if it’s not holiday season (these are adorable!). And, it’s an easy thing to keep in a gift wrap stash so it can be totally reused next time they go to give a gift of wine as well (these sweater sleeve-type ones are cute, too!). If you are a classic Christmas movie fan, you’ll probably love this one!

2. Wrap it in a tea towel: This is an easy way to wrap your bottle in a cute tea or hand towel. Just fold your towel in half over the wine, fold up the right and left bottom corners to meet the body of the bottle, fold up the right side, then the left side, gather the top fabric together with a ribbon, tie the ribbon and you’re ready to gift!
I especially love this way to wrap the wine as you give the gift of the wine itself, but also the tea towel it comes wrapped in! I used this towel, but this site usually has cute options and these are great as well (the perfect towel for your gal pals?).
3. Decorate with an ornament: This is another way to give two presents in one! Add a pretty bow or ribbon but also tie on an ornament or holiday decoration so they can use it on their tree in memory of you! Bonus points if you match the color of your wine to the ornament as well. I used this car ornament but I love this croissant one too … and this hot dog … well, basically all of these!

4. Wrap the bottle with a paper fan: This method may look a little fancy, but it’s actually really fast to do and looks adorable. Simply place your bottle on a piece of wrapping paper with a little extra coverage at the bottom and a lot of extra at the top. Pull the paper around your bottle so it’s covered and tape closed. Fold up the bottom paper so the bottom of the bottle is wrapped and tape closed. Flatten out the top tube of the paper above the cork with your fingers. Fold your paper back and forth like an accordion in 3/4″ish sections until you’ve folded down to the cork. Wrap a string or decorative wire from top to bottom, cutting the fanned paper in half (use a bit of tape on the bottom and back to keep the string in place). Fan out the top and use tape to tape the two halves of your fan together (either use double-sided tape or tape from the back). Tie your string into a bow and you’re done!

I love how pretty and fancy the wrapping looks, but it’s quick to do so you can do several at once for a batch of gifts. I used this paper (I love their line of wrapping goodies) and this star wire, but these are stunning as well.

So there you have it! Four ways to quickly make a gift of wine a little more special. This year, I think this is kind of the perfect present to leave on someone’s porch as a surprise “thinking of you gift” and I bet the wrapping will be an extra cheery surprise. Maybe add in an accessory like an electric wine opener (Emma loves hers) or a funny wine glass. Happy gifting! xo. Laura

I was thinking of a DIY wine basket as a gift. I never thought that I could gift-wrap the wine instead. Wow! Although Theme Night Wines have great ideas about gift baskets
