Elsie’s BNB Laundry Room Makeover

Hello friends! I am SO SO excited to share this laundry room with you today! It’s one of the makeovers I am the most proud of. It just shows what a huge difference paint and a few strategic details can make!

This laundry room went from being such a boring afterthought to a seriously cute and cozy space! Can you call a laundry room cozy? I’m not sure, but it feels way more cozy to me!

Behind the appliances we added two wood shelves. Not only are they far more visually pleasing than the wire shelf that was previously there, but they can hold more. And even though I don’t have loads of stuff to store in this room yet, I know it will add up over time.

I love how the white shelves tie in with the white appliances and contrast against the deep green walls.

The washer and dryer are from GE and the link to these appliances is here. On the opposite wall we added floor to ceiling shelves that fit these metal locker baskets and some hyacinth baskets. This is mainly a place for us to store obvious things that one of our guests may need (cleaning supplies or a roll of paper towels or toilet paper). We can also store extra bed linens, towels and wash cloths here. A lot of these supplies came from the Grove Collaborative. I love how Collin was able to fit the shelves to our slanted ceiling, as it really gives the room a much more finished look than a pre-made shelf would provide.

The tile from our kitchen flows into the laundry room and we decided to go with the same wall color (Thunderbolt by Valspar) for the walls in this room. Here’s a link to the jute doormat.

Anytime I have a chance to add storage in a remodel I always go for it! Built in shelves are SO nice to add to a room and I do think they add value to a home. Who doesn’t want beautiful, custom shelves? Adding shelves is one of my go-to tricks for making a room both more functional and beautiful.

The kitchen and laundry room had an open door that felt “too open,” so I decided to add this beaded curtain (it comes in a plain bamboo and all white style as well). It felt a little unconventional to me and more boho than I was really doing in this house, but the function worked so well that I went for it anyway. I think it’s the perfect alternative to adding a door (the space is tight and a door would have had to swing into the kitchen) and it flows really well with the space visually.
