We're so happy to welcome Kara Haupt to the blog today to share her lovely apartment with us!
"My best friend and I moved into this apartment together a bit ago and it was the perfect reprieve from our last place's boring location and terrible, yellow-beige walls. Though it's very small, the balcony and great floors make it all worth it. Plus, my favorite coffee shop is just downstairs. The best!
"Our place is super small and so the main room is an office, dining room, and living room. My favorite spot is my desk, as I spend most of my time there. I write a lot of affirming, positive notes to myself next to my desk and it's all-around a good place to hang out. I can chat with my roommate or move over to the couch if I get antsy. This was the first apartment where I've had my own working space that wasn't the kitchen table or floor, so it's so nice to have a home to make some magic.
"I have quite of bit of my grandmother's work up on the walls. She was an artist and passed away a few years ago, so it's nice to have her presence out and about. I have one of her paintings, some polaroids, and posters I made for a school project where I photographed and archived her art supplies (by my desk).

I have never been more in love with anything that I am with this filing cabinet. The words written on the front are just amazing. I will definitely be doing something like this when I get my first place alone.
What?! I can’t believe that’s your college apartment. It looks so legit…inspiration for what I want my place to look like once I graduate ;D

I love this! Hope this series is coming back to the blog 🙂 Love that she has her grandma’s art up. I have pieces from my late grandmother around my house as well, I love it.
Also, LOVE the colorful update to the blog, Nice!

Kara, I would definitely buy your bra drawing! You should definitely sell it. Through the ABM shop, maybe? Pretty please. 🙂
Bitches build empires! YES! I love the handwritten notes in front of her desk. What a great way to keep yourself motivated 🙂 I love small spaces!
Thank you for sharing. It looks wonderful and very creative, Kara!
Please, please show more lovely small apartments like this, ABM. I sometimes find it quite tricky to make a small place my own without over-stuffing it.
I really like what you did with your filing cabinet. I have a standard boring gray metal one that’s a complete eyesore! This inspires me to spruce it up!
Love it! Everything is so simple http://www.hannamarielei.com
Hi
I really like the bra-thing and your little-office-place.
Wish I had it too!

It’s funny to see how your “super small” flat seems super huge to my parisian eyes 😉
Lovely place! I love this feature on ABM.
That filing cabinet is amazing!

love the file cabinet restyle….. wonder if i could pull that off in my conservative (read: boring) office..
I love the filing cabinet!
I love looking at other peoples ideas and renovations. I hope to see more apartment tours in the future.
Yay Kara, love your space! Great post 🙂
This space is so beautiful. I love when people really make the most of a smaller space. It looks like such a cosy home:)
Angie, the photo poster is by Deb Carlos and the rug is from Urban Outfitters. 🙂
Goodness gracious, I love everything about this! Kara, we would be great friends!
Such a lovely use of space! Love all of the motivational quotes! Great fonts and lettering! 🙂

Is this an NYC apartment?
Thank you ABM for bringing back the “At Home With” series!!!
While I love seeing the homes and work spaces as well as DIY projects by ABM staff and contributors, I love this series because it gives us a peek into other artists/bloggers homes who have different types of homes, ideas and aesthetics. It is always inspiring!
Thank you for sharing your home Kara.
Love, it really has this artsy feeling!

Cute place! Its nice to see some one on here who is living in an apartment with a roommate. At least from my California perspective, its much more relatable, then the places usually on here (girls about my age or younger in large homes they own with their husbands).
So many sweet details – and so many great photographs!
I spy a Design Sponge project! (http://www.designsponge.com/2012/12/diy-gift-series-mountain-pillow.html)
love this! my apartment is about the same size and it’s small but cozy! 🙂

Love your details and the use of small place!
Thank you so much for featuring someone who is making a home in a semi-transitional time in their lives! So many home tours are about someone’s “dream home” and everything is curated over time and usually pricey.
But Kara as created a lovely home with her best friend/roommate with what they have now at this stage in their lives (and with pieces collected over time as well). As someone who is in that same situation, it’s inspiring and encouraging.
So thanks for representing other age/economic groups your home features. And thanks to Kara for sharing your lovely home! (You ARE your own Queen, girl)
Aww, how cute and stylish! I love this little place! It’s amazing how these personal touches bring so much character to this apartment. I really love the art and the home accessories… That tea kettle is to-die-for! ABM girls, I really love the “At Home With” series! Please continue!

Love love it…. I love how the couch faces the windows and the balcony.. no tv.. that’s so nice to see! I’m not a big tv fan.. altho I love Downton Abbey!
These At Home With features are my favorite. I love that yellow kitchen table. I’m 31 and we have a craigslist torn up couch; thinking it’s time to upgrade to an Ikea couch with etsy legs as well. Great apartment!
Oh my god! I love this!
Wow there is so much cute and personal details in her apartment, i love it! especially the little deco pillow on the couch, aww!!
too cute!
What a beautiful Apartment! 🙂 X

I loved this post! As someone who also rents a fairly small apartment, it’s really inspiring to see different ways to make these spaces special and unique. I’d love to tear down some walls and get into the nitty gritty of remodeling, but unfortunately it just isn’t an option at this point.
I love Kara’s place!
