Geometric Nesting Tables

DIY Geometric Nesting Tables via abeautifulmess.comWe're so excited to share this project with you today! Nesting tables are so cute and perfect for smaller spaces, because you can use them individually when guests come over and then neatly tuck them away the rest of the time! We found some super plain, light wood tables at a flea market that would be perfect for a little sprucing up. 😉 When we were dreaming up ideas for ways to style the tables, we knew we wanted one to incorporate a big, black and white photo for one of the tables, so it was another great fit with our Canon USA collaboration!DIY Geometric Nesting Tables via Step 1Step 1: Let's start with the middle table. You need an extra large photo. We used the Canon PRO-100 (so, so good for B&W photos) and their 13×19 semi-gloss photo paper.DIY Geometric Nesting Tables via Step 5Step 2: Prime and paint the middle table white. Use ModPodge to adhere the photo to the top of the table. Cut out paper confetti dots and arrange them on your photo. Use ModPodge to glue the paper dots to the photo. Use painter’s tape to tape off the bottom of the table legs and paint the legs.DIY Geometric Nesting Tables via Step 2DIY Geometric Nesting Tables via Step 2Steps 3 + 4: For the biggest table, prime and paint the table white. Make an off-center dot on your tabletop with a pencil (this will be the spot where all your lines originate from). From this dot, use a ruler and a pencil to divide your table into twelve segments. Using painter’s tape, tape off each section and use a different colors of paint to paint each segment. Tape off the bottom third of each leg with painter’s tape, and paint the legs for a “dipped” effect.DIY Geometric Nesting Tables via Step 4Step 5: For the smallest table, prime and paint the table white. Use a pencil and a ruler to make three rows of interlocking triangles. Fill in the triangles randomly with your paint color choices. Use painter’s tape to tape off the bottom of the table legs and paint the legs.DIY Geometric Nesting Tables via 6To complete the project, use a clear art sealer spray to put a finishing protective coat on your tables.

  • I’ll print hardcopies of my photos for my photo album. It’s been 5 years since I updated.

  • You forgot to explain how you made the glittered part. Modpodge again? Or the gold paint? I also wonder what gold paint you used.
    Great job!!

  • LOVE IT!! One thing though – what did you use for the glitter? I feel loose glitter could shed too much on a table, even after sealed!

  • they look beautiful, especially the colors and how they work together so beautifully. orange and pink make it funky and gold makes it classy. You guys always inspire meto get up and do things.

    thanks guys x

  • Oh my goodness! These are so so SO perfect. Loooove. The paint, the glitter, the photo. Perfection.

  • These look amazing! So beautiful, I love how each table is different too! xxx

  • These are so cute! I love the one with the gold glitter!

  • Quick note: if your tables are wood – even if they haven’t been painted previously – they will likely have been sealed. You really need to lightly sand the tables before you start adding paint, or it’s just going to peal off.

  • I love all the colors! I have been wanting to do something EXACTLY like this. You ladies are my biggest inspiration! <3333

  • I love the pink! What a great project!

    Sarah xo

  • Oh my god, they are BEAUTIFUL! I really need to make something like this!

  • Adore the idea, so nice and playful

  • This is so cute, i LOVE the colors and the geometric pattern. And the photo adds so much personality. Pinnes it right away. 😉 Greetings from Germany, Eva

  • so smart! great color choices and what a lovely photo too. b&w photos always make such great additions to decor.

  • Oh my god, these are gorgeous! I’m usually a terrible crafter, but I might just have to attempt this one for myself. Beautiful.

  • So cute! I love the idea of using a photo on a table, I never would have thought of it. And I love that you used it on the middle table so it’s like a little surprise when you pull it out!

  • This. Is. Amazing. Add this to my already too ambitious list of projects to try.

  • Glitter and geometry. What more do you need? Nothing. These tables are perfection. Thank you for sharing!
