Elsie's Bloody Mary Recipe Collection It’s no secret that I love a good Bloody Mary, but since my husband and I rarely drink in the mornings, I don’t have them very often. And I think the rarity of it makes them feel like an EXTRA special vacation drink, which makes me love them even more!

A couple years ago, I did a big series of Bloody Mary recipes here, and since we have a ton of new readers, I decided to make you guys a round up of all my favorites. I didn’t even remember a few of these… Haha!

  • I agree Jenna! I am Canadian too and the Clamato Caesar is the way to go! I always add pickle juice!

  • As another Canadian has said above, I’m more used to Bloody Caesars which are essentially the same. But I would never have that for brunch in the morning……I prefer them as an aperitif before dinner or just when I have a drink with friends in the evenings.

  • Ceasers are THE BEST. I’ve had some stellar ones made with Tequila and a crisp, cool one made with Gin with some cucumber. To die for!

  • Allow me to recommend replacing the vodka with gin for all those gin lovers out there. I think it makes any bloody mary 10x better!

  • You and Jeremy are so cute! Love seeing the occasional pics of your families. I’d love to see the guys write a little music column, seems like you and Emma and Laura all have very musical husbands.

  • Can you recommend a mix that you really like? I’m always trying new ones but haven’t found a great one yet! Thanks!

  • In Canada, we have Ceasers and we use Clamato juice. We also mix it with beer. It is esentially the same idea, only Clamato has clam brine in it so it is saltier and a thinner drink than straight tomato juice. It sounds gross but it is a Canadian staple! I think more places in America are starting to carry Clam (for short)! I highly recommend it!

  • I’m not a big Bloody Mary fan, but man do I love all the ridiculous and beautiful garnish. My husband usually orders them, so I’m able to at least see the fun and crazy variations at different places. I’m thinking I might be able to do that blood orange or basil one, though. Guess I’ll have to try them out and worst case scenario, my husband gets two (I don’t think he’d complain)!


  • The one with carrot sounds good. I am going to have to give that a try!

  • I used to work in a place that served BBQ Bloody Mary with bacon… I never knew cocktails can be so disguising.
