Fun with a Diana + lens

Diana + Lens for DSLRI had so much fun writing this next feature! We partnered up with Photojojo to show you something extra special. They have a Diana + Lens that you can use on your digital camera. For those of you who aren't familiar, Diana + cameras are a toy camera famous for dreamy, surreal photos. The thing that's so neat about using this lens on a digital camera is that you can experiment and take as many photos as you want. Most rolls of 120 film for Diana + cameras only take 16 photos, so the freedom to experiment is a pretty big deal to me. Emma and I spent some time playing around with window light. Here are some photos we took with this fun lens…

I love the light flare! Be sure to take a peek at Photojojo for more photography fun! Hope you have a lovely day. XO. elsie and emma

  • – It’s soooo hard sometimes not to be sueckd into the things of this world and remember that this world is not our home. Reminded me of this verse Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matt 6:19-21And I love the picture you used to represent the bigger picture , our relationships with others and not things.

    thank you

  • until this post, i totally forgot i had those lenses already! need to take them out again and use them!

  • OMG how exciting!! I hardly ever take photos with film anymore; mostly because of cost. Anything that enhances the digital experience in such a fun way is a total winner for me.

  • Just received one for christmas! can’t wait to use it on my vacation this week 😀

  • Love these photos! So out of the norm for this blog but beautiful!

  • Wow, wonderful pictures!
It’s my birthday next week and I’m really really tempted to buy this for myself now! I’ve wanted a diana camera, but this seems like a very good option!

  • I actually ordered this lens last week and these photos have just made me so much more excited for it to arrive!!!

  • I find the pics too messy and annoying for the eye! That’s just my opinion…

    http://missbobino.blogspot.com

  • I have a holga lens like this for my canon, but its way too up close to take any good pictures indoors. can you get a wide angle on this lens?

  • Wish I knew about this before I got my Diana+ camera. I still picked it up anyway, just so I can have the instant gratification and fun with film. Thanks for writing about it!

  • Love this post! I recently bought a canon adapter for my diana F+ so I can experiment (so hard to learn what does what when you can’t see the photos).. Felt a little like I was betraying film, but it’s oh so fun!

  • OMG, you mean we can purchase the lens and put it on our digi cam! I am so looking for that! I always have probs developing my film cause I never get them out from my holga properly and they get exposed, sob. Now this will solve probs! Thanks so much for sharing!

  • Just vistited their site and am making a very ambitious birthday list! Is 34 a milestone birthday – I think not fingers crossed though.

  • I tottaly blame you for directing me to photojojo!!! I just spent an entire hour I COULD HAVE USED for my blog drooling over things in the photojojo site. I could really use that silly hood for my flash! Save me alot of time finding the perfect light in my otherwise dark room. :duh dum dum:

    Much love elsie!

    Melinda <33

  • Thanks so much for sharing this! Definitely going on my wish list. 🙂
P.S. Love the shade of your nails, Elsie! Is it chocolate brown?

  • great pictures! that camera lens is amazing 🙂

  • I’ve been blogging about my Diana F+ lens too but I use the canon adapter, I have a rebel txi <3 http://www.elousions.com/2011/12/diana-f-lens-on-my-canon.html I’ve been playing with it since I got it in december and I’m in love.

  • Oh wow, how neat! I’d been eyeing buying one of the toy camera’s, but being able to use this on the digital is way better! Thanks for the post.

  • Ohh, these look amazing, Elsie – and so easy too! I’ve just started getting hooked on using my Holga – I can’t get enough of the film look!

  • I bought one forever ago. I couldn’t really get it to work the way I wanted. I guess I need to give it another try.

  • This lens is awesome! I always wanted to buy a Diana but this looks like it may be a more practical option. Thank you for sharing!!

  • I have been thinking about buying a Diana for quite some time now, but the the films are expensive and then I would use not that often and so on.
But this might be an alternative.

  • Oooh….kinda drooling over this lense. I really love the way toy camera pictures look, but I’m also all about digital, because it’s cheap and easy. Totally adding this to my wishlist…

    Niki

  • i have to have this lens! i’m a toycam junkie, but to convert it for digital is absolutely dreamy.

  • I love Photojojo! I actually just talked about them on my blog. I love that lense.

  • Oh how fun!! I need to add this lens to my wishlist.

  • I got one of these lenses for Christmas a couple of years ago and sadly haven’t used it very much. You’ve inspired me to get mine out and try it again! Thanks!

  • beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing the Photojojo store, too. I’m definitely going to be creating a wishlist!

  • these are so dreamy and romantic! i actually won a diana camera in a blog giveaway & gave it to my hubby for Christmas. excited to see how his photos turn out!

  • I love these pictures. They look so dreamy! Getting new lenses is so much fun!

  • i have the whole set from photojojo for my nikon! (the lens adapter, fisheye, telephoto, wide angle, etc. for i think $140 total.) they’re really fun to play with, but a little hard to control the focus. but since it’s digital, it’s easier to experiment and perfect without wasting money or film. you can make your own vignetting, too, by placing a piece of paper (with a hole in the center) between the camera and the lens adapter.

  • I’ve been swooning over that lens for so long! Wish that is came in a Pentax option!

  • Wow! Beautiful! I am always looking for new lens…and someone to teach me how to use them. I’m such a noob at photography!

    Cheers,
    Savannah

  • Love this! I used to be so crazy about getting that perfect pic, but now I love those imperfect ones that capture something unexpected.

  • this is such a cool product! it eliminates all the problems that film cameras have – limited shots and having to develop them!

  • I have GOT to save for one of these! All the fun of the Diana and the benefits of the digital in one neat little package. Genius!

  • DEFINITELY want one of these! Love the photographs they produce and the lens is actually super cheap, too. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  • Now that I have a good digital camera (that is not my cell phone), I might have to ask for this for my birthday in March. I am a little obsessed with light, to the point that I bought both the SunDroid and The Photographer’s Ephemeris. Both absolutely amazing for planning your shots around natural light.

  • So fun! I’m always looking for a new camera. They’re just so much fun to play with. xo, rv

  • I love my diana dreamer camera but this looks like so much fun too, i just may have to get one!

  • I have been eying that lens for months now. I’m afraid that if I bye the lens, I will neglect my precious Diana mini.

  • Thats a great option… That would be fun to use for my photos for my bloggy blog.

    Thanks for shareing

  • Oh, I love this! Been thinking about buying a Diana camera at UO but wasn’t too sure due to the film issue. Wish I had a fancy camera so I could buy the lens. 🙂
