Home Tour: Our Living Room

Living room 1Hello there and welcome to a little photo tour of our home. We live in a tiny 3 bedroom home that Jeremy purchased during his bachelor days. We spent the last year redecorating and making it cozy. It's been a fun process and we've shared a lot of wonderful memories in this space. Today I'll be sharing the living room and in the coming few weeks I'll be sharing five other rooms with you. Welcome!

Living room 2Living room 3Living room 4Living room 5Living room 6Living room 7Living room 8Living room 9Living room 10We spend a lot of time in our living room watching tv, blogging on our laptops, having the occasional cocktail night with pals and playing with Suki. It's mostly a place for relaxing.

  • I love the yellow wall color! What was it called???? I want to paint my living room that color!

  • This is an awesome living room. Everyone wants to have a place like this and a little fashion is need for a wonderful result.

  • Just looking through your site for about the millionth time- and I realized I have the exact same paint by numbers picture as you do (the corner chair- right wall, bottom picture) I love it! I’ve been wanting to liven it up a little bit, so I’m going to paint over a saying like one of your previous d.i.y projects. So excited- love your sight! So inspirational 🙂

  • Flo, Caitlin, Xavier –

Thank you for letting us know about the link error. We’ve fixed the problem!

    – Kinsey

  • Every time I try to look at Elsie’s Bathroom it takes me to the living room :/ Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

  • Just wanted to let you know that the link to the bathroom sent me to the living room (living room was cute in both links hehe)

  • Great space!!! I love the photo wall, yellow paint, teal couch and graphic carpet!

  • Love your living room! It has such a wonderful warm personality feel to it. Am especially fond of your vintage things namely the deer…sweet 🙂 xoblenda

  • location.replace(‘http://homeforfuture.com’);

    hohoho

  • This is a design that ought to be put on catalogs! With all those colors and patterns, the room is perfect for brightening up your day. It doesn’t need gadgets or fancy appliances to make it stunning. The room itself is beautiful. I bet staying there feels like living in a different era, with all those classic features you have added, particularly those mug shots. Hehehe.

  • That teal couch is absolutely blowing my mind. I have seen my fair share of thrift store, vintage sofas and that is by far the best. Holy smokes.

  • Super behind on blog reading but so happy I’ve taken the time to catch up. Your home is beautiful, Elsie!!

  • Eeek!! It’s lovely! 🙂 The yellow is the perfect shade (and looks rad on the textured walls!), and that couch has me crazy jealous! So awesome.

  • Your living room is so colourful and different.I hope I get one like this when I am older.

  • LOVE this room! I was drawn to your coffee table and I realized I have the exact same one! I recognized the notched design on each end and I knew for sure. I thrifted mine years ago – so cool to see another one here! xoxo

  • this is amazing! I specially love the contrast between the mustard colour on your wall and that turquoise on your couch 🙂

  • I love the design of your living room, Elsie! I also want your wall color – it looks very bright and sunny! What exactly is that color? Do you also have plans of moving into a bigger love nest? =]

  • Love those interior design and I love those collection of photos. It is pretty to look at them.

  • These photos show how cozy the room is! I would like to have a visit. I love the wall decors particularly the polaroids…

  • I really love your bar cart, pillows, yellow walls, couch, dress, woven side table thing and okay pretty much everything : )

  • The super bright couch is the coolest! Did you luck out and actually find it in that bold fabric/ color or did you get it recovered? I’ve been bummed out by my very black couch for a while now and after seeing how happy your’s makes the space I want to ditch it more than ever but am debating rehab versus getting a new one for cost.

Also it’s “pleather” right? My current couch is leather and I love the durability but the vegetarian in me is bothered. Do you find the fake leather comfy or is it sticky in the heat and stiff to lie on the way the seats to my 1986 Chrysler LeBaron convertible are? 🙂 Great style!

  • Love your living room! Looks like it could be in a magazine. Elsie you still inspire me after all these years.

  • It is veru nice, but it wouldn’t be good for me. Too many colours and items everywhere!

  • What a great room! My great grandmother painted the very same paint by number (the bottom one) when she was alive and young enough to paint… so like in the fifties or sixties maybe? It’s hanging in my Dad’s house now, and has a mate that’s very similar. I’ve always loved them!

  • Beautiful vibrant colors! I love that needlework piece! And it’s so fitting for you to have a photo wall above the piano.
    My Blog

  • Thanks for sharing such a personal place! I just adore the side cocktail table. If I didn’t have a 3-year-old sharing our space, I would be making one of my own right now!

  • So gorgeous! Impeccable designing. I came across a tweed arm chair like you have- the all upholstered one- for $25 at a thrift store and it got bought out from under me. I want one so bad now.

  • This is Megan from Larken. I love seeing the mug shots in your house. So cool! Thanks for posting!

  • Gasp!!! The pops of color and light everywhere make for such a vibrant space.
    Your home = Blissful

  • I love your Larken posters! We were neighbors at a show recently – her stuff is amazing.

Your room is the perfect mix of styled and cozy; love it.

  • You just warmed up my day! All the bright and beautiful colors are wonderful! Again, I just love seeing you together in posts. I hope that someday my hubby will stop being so camera shy =D

  • Such a lovely living room. I love how your personal style is showcased so perfectly, as in all your styling (clothing, pictures, store, blog).

    December Sunshine

  • It just looks so cozy and personal. I have an instagram wall at our place aswell, it just adds up some personal air in a stylish way!
And I adore the couch…i wonder if i could talk my man into getting a more fancy colored cover for ours 🙂

  • Love this! 🙂 You have a lovely home! I have that exact same paint by number in my house. Where do you find sweaters that fit chunky pugs???

  • I’m in love with all the colors and personal touches! I think my favorite elements are the Instagram photos, the vintage magazines, the chevron rug, and the bar cart!

  • I love all of the vintage furniture. I have been searching for great vintage chairs and not having much luck, but i love all of yours!

  • i am crazy about your carpet. Ivan would love it too! it is very ‘Black Lodge’! Jeremy likes David Lynch right? Does it remind him of Twin Peaks too?

  • I’m dying for your turquoise couch!!! I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. Your living rooms looks so warm and cozy and the Instagram Photos wall is such a great idea!
I can’t wait to see the rest of it! 🙂

  • Awesome! It’s beautiful! I love all the cozy elements from the shoes, patchwork and the photo wall. So you and so unique!

  • You have truly feathered the nest!

Must ask…is the white chair next to the boot display made of new growth contact paper harvested from the rainforest of my mothers “let’s contact paper the piano” phase?!!

  • I’m thrilled to see this. We’re moving into a new place right now, so I’ve been reading Rachel’s e-course, scouring Pinterest, and looking for ideas everywhere. I love seeing more and more inspiring rooms.

I’ve actually been wanting to paint the living room yellow for a while, but my boyfriend is a bit gun shy about the idea. Maybe showing him these pictures will give him a better idea of how awesome it would look.

Oh, and I couldn’t help noticing your vintage mugshots are from Cincinnati – that’s my city! 😀

  • I have a stack of vintage Seventeen magazines in my living room, too! Love all the colors–I’m ready to actually buy a house so I can paint and paper. No more beige renter-walls for me! 🙂

  • So fun! Thanks for sharing! I know you are super busy but it would be so fun to know your thoughts on some of your things & decor choices. Did you do an inspiration board or did it just come together? Is there a significance to the brown boots & shoes? Do the mug shots ever scare you when you walk through the living room in the dark? I always love to read your thoughts on things 🙂

  • Thanks so much for sharing. My hubs and I hope to buy a house in the next couple of years and I’m already daydreaming about how I will decorate. This is great inspiration.

  • I love your piano area with all the instagram photos! Such a cute place… can’t wait to see the rest!

  • Your living room is absolutely adorable, but gotta say: the sweatered pug is the best part of this post!
