Lace Hoodie DIY

Lace hoodie diyProbably the most worn DIY from this year (for me) would have to be this denim and lace shirt. I've worn it so many times. Maybe too many times. Maybe. That easy project inspired this winter/athletic spin on the idea. What I love is that you could use any color hoodie or any color lace you prefer to customize to your own unique style and taste. I like grey and white, because I'm boring. 🙂Hoodie lace collage1. Supplies: Hoodie, lace, scissors, sewing pins, sewing machine. 2. Begin by cutting out the front of the hoodie, leaving 1/4 inch from the seam and the front pocket. 3. Use this section that you just cut out as a template to cut out the lace section. Cut it out 1/4 inch larger for a seam allowance. 4-5. Next, turn the hoodie inside out and pin the lace section in place where the front of the hoodie use to be. When pinning, be sure both seams are facing upward, so that it won't be visible once it's turned right side out. 6. Lastly, pin and stitch the pocket in place.Lace hoodie diy 2Have fun making your own glammed up sweatshirt! 🙂 xo. Emma + Kinsey

  • I might try that, but with the lace in the back instead of the front. Now to see if I can find some lace and borrow a sewing machine…

  • What a beautiful DIY! I’m pretty sure I would live in that sweatshirt if I had it!

  • I love this combination!! Comfy and dainty all in one 🙂

  • This looks great! I have a question about sewing with lace, though- it’s so delicate and rips easily. I was using lace in a different project (a dress) and it ripped almost immediately, near the seams. How do you avoid weakening the lace with the seams?

  • Wow! Really love this tutorial, very “romantic”. Now, where can I find a hoodie….

  • This turned out awesome! I love the look – one because I love hoodies and two because now I don’t have to look like I just rolled out of bed wearing one 🙂 Thank you!

  • This is such a good idea! I love textily post being a textile enthuast myself, love the diys and give it a go myself.

  • I’m making my first own hoodie right now. This could very well be my next project… I love hoodies, so comfy and the lace just makes it so pretty!

  • Oh my! I don’t have any lace on hand but I do have the most perfect fabric to improvise with! thank youu

  • cute.
you could also reverse the idea and do lace sleeves and a lace pocket just to mix it up. i wish my sewing machine wasn’t in storage right now!

  • such a great idea! i like your neutral choices, too.

  • Love this! The saddest part of throwing on a hoodie (which I’m prone to do since they’re so dang comfy) is then nobody can see what you’re wearing underneath… fixed!

  • this is the cutest EVER! I always love your ideas but this one is the cherry on the sundae! LOVE IT!

  • Nice idea! Your hair looks really nice as well! How do you make it look that way? 🙂

  • This looks so cool I’m going to make one for yoga.

  • Oh my! This is one awesome DIY hoodie i’ve ever seen! Love! Love! Love!

  • perfect way to reuse any old high school football hoodie that you don’t want to wear in public because hello you have to keep your blahzzay (that was because I couldn’t figure out how to spell the word I wanted to use) reputation. yea.

  • So creative! This can make such a blah item look lovely 🙂 It could look so neat with a mixtures of black lace & pastels or neons or even classy with black & white.

  • Holy cow this is so cute! I know what I’m doing with my old turquoise hoodie now!!

  • I think I’d love the lace a bit more if it were on the back, but still a super cute idea!
