Hi! It’s Mandi here. I love when friends visit our home and leave us fun messages on our refrigerator door. I find them while cleaning up the kitchen, and it always makes staying up late to clean sticky cocktail glasses so worth it. In the past, our friends have been limited to using these conversation heart magnets to capture brief sentiments, so I thought it was about time I gave them more of a vocabulary with an extensive set of word magnets. Some cheeky, some serious—the fridge is bound to become the water cooler of our house parties!
These word magnets could not be easier to make. Check out the simple instructions below!
Supplies:
–polymer clay in the colors of your choice (you may also use plain white clay and paint or glaze them with water-based materials)
–magnet tape
Tools:
–rolling pin
-craft blade
–small letter stamps
-craft blade
-scissors (not shown)
-baking sheet + oven
-parchment paper or silicone mat (optional)
Step One: Warm the clay in your hands, then roll it out to a 1/8″ thickness. Using the magnet tape as a guide, cut out strips of clay with your craft blade.
Step Two: Stamp words onto the clay strips, cutting them out as you go along.
Step Three: Arrange all of the words onto a baking sheet and bake in a conventional oven at 275°F for 15 minutes.
Step Four: After the clay has cooled and hardened, attach the magnet tape to the back of each one, cutting it to size.
See? Totally easy, right? This was a fun craft to do in front of the TV, totally justifying a mini Netflix marathon. And now my family and I can leave silly or serious notes to each other, dramatically upping the romantic ante of my marriage. Such fun! –Mandi

I love this idea! I always love when my friends have little conversation magnets on their fridge. Whenever I see them, I always try and leave a silly little message. I love this project because you can literally make whatever words you want and can make them in whatever colours work well with your decor. Very cute idea! Thanks for sharing 🙂
LOVE this idea! I love the magnetic poetry kits. I’ve seriously spent way too long staring at people’s fridges trying to find the perfect word. This is so cool! Plus, then I can put whatever naughty words I want 😀 #justkiddingnotkidding
