Mexico (in Instagrams)

Mexico is fun 1This past week Emma, Trey, Jeremy and I joined more of Trey's family for a fun trip to Mexico. It was quick, sunny, slightly tipsy (okay, very tipsy) and very relaxing. Here are a few snapshots from our trip!Mexico is fun 2Selfies on the beach. There's a lot more where that came from, but I'll spare you. 🙂Mexico is fun 3We had the best time sitting by the beach (covered in sunscreen—don't you worry!) and chatting about inspiration, plans and the year to come. I can't believe Emma's wedding is less than two months away! (Our suits are from ASOS + H&M)Mexico is fun 4Coconut ice cream and a little fun splashing in the waves together.

Mexico is fun 5My (hilarious) beach read and a matching stripes because we're cool (or maybe not cool) like that.

Sigh. It was nice to have a little getaway, even if it was just for a few days! It was also cool to start fusing our family with Trey's family. That was pretty special.

I have a few more photos from my SLR to share with you soon! Have you been to Mexico? What's your favorite spot for a relaxing vacation? xo. Elsie

  • I’m all about Cuba, where we now have friends that became family. Every time we go there it’s like Christmas! Meeting loved ones whom you haven’t seen for ages, the sun (I’m allergic but manage to stay in the shade, the beach, seeing my daughter play in the waves, scooping litres of sand off her underwear, the usually straight hair that curls for a week, the palm tree rats, roasted pig with family, children who don’t speak the same language but play for hours…. Good memories

  • Looks like you all had a fantastic time!

  • Wow, i live in mexico, in Tijuana (the border),I hope you are enjoying your visit 🙂

  • I purchased Elsie’s suit after I saw it on instagram! I just wore it this past weekend in Palm Springs and absolutely LOVED it! Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Someone JUST gave me that book to read – I can’t wait!

  • Looks like so much fun ! great snaps…

Check out my new outfit post :

  • So glad you posted this, I’m crazy about this stuff! I am loving your blog 🙂

  • Oh my goodness I just discovered your blog on Pinterest! I’m in love! <3

  • Looks like you had an awesome time!
    Great snapshots!

  • Sounds like a lot of fun. Oh, there are so many great places in Mexico. Playa del Carmen has stunning beaches, archeological centers and great restaurants. Zihuatanejo is more local and staying close to Playa ‘La Ropa’ is a lot of fun. There are small boutique hotels along the coastline.

If you are into surfing, Huatulco would be a lot of fun.

There are also colonial towns that are gorgeous. You would not be at the beach, but you will have nice weather. My fav is San Miguel de Allende. Cobbled streets, filled with art and galleries. Also the city of Oaxaca, has one of the best local cuisine, the churches are amazing and you will also be close to pyramids in the region.

If you are into hiking Canon del Sumidero in Chiapas is so beautiful.

  • Where did you get that high waisted bathing suit i just need it.

  • Mexico is fun!!! Both are very cute in those suits

  • oh dear, i live in México and seriously… i want to go to the beach!! like NOW!! Cancún, Sayulita, Zipolite, San Blas… enjoy your vacations!

  • CAYMAN ISLANDS!!! that is my all-time favorite spot. as for Mexico i spent one very brief but memorable night in Tijuana. *good times*

  • Please tell me where you got your wonderful high-waisted two piece! And also how it fared in the water – I have been wanting to order one from Modcloth, but most of the reviews indicate that although the fit is wonderful, the quality is awful!

  • Just got back from Cancun; stayed at an all-inclusive resort:
It was AMAZING. Free drinks. Warm sun. I miss it already. Thanks for the pics to remind me 🙂

  • Totally random, but all the time I’ve been reading your blog (which is ages!) I thought you were Australians! How did I not know you were American? Just how stupid am I?!? Are you sure you’re not Australian?!? Could you pretend to be Australian, just for a bit, just for me?!?
    Just kidding!

  • Ice cream looks so delicious!

  • These photos are adorable and I love your swimsuit Elsie! Thank you for sharing, it was nice to see a look into your trip.

    Kindness is the best accessory,

  • Oh my GOSH!! I love all your outfits. Me and my hubbs honeymooned there and Mexico will always have a special place in my heart. I LOVE LOVE both swim suits!! I want one!

  • I never been to Mexico but I traveled quite a bit. At the moment I live in the Caribbean, Saint Martin to be exact. It’s great fun, beautiful beaches and not too far away for East Coast-ers. about 3,5 hour flight from NYC or Miami.
For short stays I love city trips. Rome, Amsterdam, London and Paris are great (a bit far from the US) but my all time favorite is Barcelona! (I’m moving there next winter!
Thailand and Cambodia are great holiday destinations and far more interesting then Malaysia.
    Well, that’s it 😉

  • that book has cause lots of (poor) strangers at trains to be disturbed by me trying hard not to laugh my a** off

  • Bali..Indonesia..
    Beach..lovely store..unique place..

  • I love cancun, but recently I went to Playa del Carmen for my bachelorette trip. It was so much more awesome than cancun…think south beach kind of vibe with lots of alfresco restaurants and little shops lining the streets and the beautiful mexican coastline! We went to cozumel and drove around in a little bug, amazing. Where in Mexico did you go?

  • I went to Mexico in January and it was the BEST holiday. So relaxing. We stayed at the Moon Palace in Cancun. Would love to go back!

  • I really wanna go to mexico!! Looks amazing!

  • I am dying to add new books to my reading collection, and I noticed you started going through Mindy’s book. Is it really that funny!? Because I am going on an Amazon book shopping spree soon, and will add it to the list. [I heard Magical Thinking was super funny, and I had such high expectations that once I read it I was kinda let down. 🙁 ]

  • how fun!!! Makes me jealous and want to go on a little getaway. We are in the process of planning a couples trip to somewhere warm for next December. We went to Riviera Maya, Mexico for our honeymoon and LOVED it!! And also went to Punta Cana, DR for a friend’s destination wedding. That was so so beautiful The water and beach was fantastic. The food was a little iffy at our resort, but other than that it was phenomenal. Just need to figure out where to go next. Thinking Jamaica or Puerto Rico as ideas at the moment?

  • I’ve been to both Puerto Vallarta (sophomore? I think… year of college) and Mazatlan (senior? I think?) and loved them both in their own ways. I’m all about the beach and tasty bites and they both delivered. We had better food in Mazatlan but we paid for it. I’d love to go back!! Thanks for sharing a little slice of your trip!

  • Hi!, I’m from México and I am really courious about where did you guys went! I recommend to you San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. BEAUTIFUL PLACE! is such a magic little town.

  • i’m suggesting that book for our next book club! we usually do non-fiction but we like to sprinkle in a little fun now and again 🙂

  • Great pictures! Mini-vacations are awesome, I almost prefer them to a big long one. A few days away do wonders for inspiration and renewed energy to tackle everyday life!

Man, I am jealous of you guys. I’ve been to Puerto Vallarta a few times, Cancun and Mazatlan and I have to say Puerto Vallarta is my absolute favorite of the three!

  • don’t you just love mexico? my family is from, and still lives in, guadalajara. even traveling to other places all over the world, i’ve got to say mexico is still my favorite. glad you loved it!
