Each season I try to come up with an easy cocktail recipe that I can 1. Make really fast (#entertaining), and 2. Keep all the ingredients on hand all season long. Because there’s nothing more bummin’ than having surprise guests and having to be like, “Can I offer you a…water?” because you realized mid-sentence that you have nothing fun in your fridge. Ugh!
This cocktail is an EASY mix of two of my faves—whiskey lemonade and whiskey apple cider. I really love having a pot of hot apple cider simmering (and then you just add a shot of whiskey when you serve) for parties. So this is kind of a little of both. Fresh and tart and sweet and spiced. I hope you like it!!
Spiced Cider Lemonade Cocktail, serves one.
1 part lemonade
1 part apple cider
1.5 ounces whiskey
a pinch of cinnamon
Combine in a shaker with ice, shake and serve! Use some orange slices and cinnamon sticks to garnish if you want to win the hostess with the mostest award.
Note: The better your lemonade and cider, the better your drink will be! I like a very tart lemonade and a cider with a lot of spice. If you can’t find a cider with a lot of spice, you can always simmer it with some spiced tea bags to make it more flavorful—it’s a whole extra step, but sometimes good cider is hard to find. Whatever you do, don’t use plain apple juice! Too weak. If you do that, then at least add a bunch of cinnamon, OK? I’m only telling you all this because I love you.
For you weirdos who hate whiskey, try dark rum instead.
(More photos just in case you weren’t craving one yet! Haha) Ummm…Can I have one now? xx. Elsie
ps. I forgot to mention, this makes an excellent mocktail as well. Just omit the whiskey and you’re good. It’s like an Arnold Palmer for AUTUMN!

Up until now I had no idea apple cider was a non-alcoholic apple drink in the US! What could you sub it for, fresh apple juice? I don’t think we have something similar in the UK but I really fancy trying this!
I used Jim Beam which is decent but not fancy, good for mixing. It was great.
I made this for some girlfriends the other night. We all loved it, even people who don’t normal dig whiskey!
Never met a whiskey cocktail I didn’t like and this one looks like one that I could love. Do you serve it hot or cold? Most likely delicious either way. Excited to try it this weekend 🙂

I don’t think I’ve ever had whiskey but I LOVE rum. So trying this with rum!
I thought this was applesauce in the shot from above. Super intriguing… now I need applesauce.
Hi Elsie! What specific whiskey do you recommend for this cocktail? I am a whiskey newbie but think this is one of the drinks I could learn to love drinking whiskey with 🙂 The problem is, I have NO idea what kind/brand/price of whiskey to buy…
This is perfect for this evening just picking the last apples before the real cold comes tomorrow
Thank you !
