Our Costa Rica Trip (On Video)

We really did have such a fantastic time visiting the beautiful country of Costa Rica! It is sure to be a trip that none of us will ever forget. Here's a short video of our time there.

Credits // Video and Music: Jeremy Larson.

  • Great video! My boyfriend and I have been considering moving to Costa Rica, very cool to see what your experience was like 🙂

    Yuliya xx

  • Hey ladies! I used to live in Santa Teresa, teaching at a school on the beach. Here is a video I made while living there- thought you might be interested! 🙂

  • awesome video! would love a post with tips for making/shooting video trips!

  • Looks like so much fun! Can you tell me where Laura got her black headwrap she’s wearing in the scene with all you ladies on the beach? It’s über cute!!

  • So, what does this trip have to do with your “business”? What’s the point of posting all this on your blog? Was this trip a vehicle for gabbing about the latest Modcloth swimsuits? Those of us with real jobs would really like to know.

  • What a lovely video! It looks like you all had a marvelous time. Totally makes me want to tell my family we should all go on a trip there together!

  • OMG I loved that all of you have been in my country, i read ABM since i was in high school and has helped me, in my career of textile designer here in Costa Rica. I’ll be glad to meet you here in my country and show you all the good designers from here.

  • What a fantastic keepsake! I love making videos of holidays! Beautiful!

  • Amazing video. You really captured the essence of what it is like to spend time in Costa Rica. Thank you for sharing.

  • Love this video. Would you guys ever do a tutorial or post on making little films like this – what equipment, apps, software you use + any tips, tricks, or hints you might have?

  • Hey, love the video. Wow, pool, hanging chair, unreal views!! What is the name of the rental house or what part of Costa Rica is it in? Is it typical of the the of type of rental houses available? It looks absolutely idyllic!

  • love the video! my cat was really into the music haha he stopped what he was doing and paid attention to the computer as soon as he heard it.

  • jeremy nailed it again with the video & music. creative dynamo pow!

  • What a beautiful video. Looks like you all had an amazing time! It’s going to be so awesome having this and all your photos to look back on one day far from now. That’s the best part about living this alternative life of a blogger/vlogger… sharing your life with the world means being able to share it with yourself 50 years from now! xo

  • Yeahh that’s the kind of video i love!! My favorite part is definitely Todd jumping in the pool and catching that frisbee…seriously?!! So cool!
Perfect video you guys, thanks Jeremy!

  • I REALLY LOVE THE ENDING! Tremma are always so cute! Also, it looks like a bundle of fun and you guys seem to be wearing swimsuits for most of the holiday LOL now that’s what I call a vacation!

  • Love this! Would you mind telling us what camera he used to shoot the video with?

On a different note, I’ve been trying to get myself to take more pictures and maybe even venture into videos to record memories and moments now that my fiance and I have moved to a different city, have adopted a dog and are about to embark on whole new adventure of marriage and family together, but at the same time I’m worried about not being present enough in the moment, always being behind the camera. You girls (and the rest of your amazing team!) capture your life so amazingly on camera and it is just so inspiring and I can imagine that you have beautiful physical memories to look back on in pictures and videos, and that’s something I want to have too, but I worry about being preoccupied with the perfect image, and wanting to capture everything through a lens that I won’t be able to truly share a moment with my loved ones or just with myself. How do you find a balance?

  • Totally love this video! That last little clip of Emma kissing Trey: so very very sweet! Jeremy did a wonderful job on this video!

  • your husband is so fantastically creative! definitely a keeper! What a beautiful video

  • Okay, that was beautiful!! Definitely putting that place on my travel list 🙂

  • This was so fun to watch! I feel like I just took a mini-vacation.

Also, can we talk about how epic that frisbee catch was?!

    xo Anita

  • Hi!
He uses the Canon Mark III and mostly the 50mm L series lens.

Thanks so much for your kind words!
    xx! Elsie

  • I saw in the comments what program you used to edit it. Could you please share what cameras and lenses you used too? 🙂
That was absolutely beautiful. A personal family vacation home movie perfectly edited.
We’re honeymooning in Fiji and New Zealand in a couple months. Definitely want to take video.
Hopefully you guys will offer a class on shooting and editing home movies?!

  • Did anybody else get seriously teary watching this?!

I don’t wanna be mushy, but I’m seriously so proud of everyone who makes this blog happen, who puts a bit of beauty into the readers’ lives every day, and who works so hard and plays even harder.

I hope there are lots more trips coming up- you deserve it!

  • Oh i really love the music ! It creates a feeling of full hapiness ! Well done !

  • This video is fabulous!!

Would you ever consider having Jeremy teach a video class? Or maybe make a series of video filters based off your PhotoShop actions? I would definitely take/buy/fall in love with both.

  • Hi!
Jeremy used Adobe Premier to edit all our videos.
    xx! Elsie

  • Hi Nicole!
Jeremy uses a Canon 5d Mark III to make all the videos on the blog (with the exception of the kitchen reno video- we needed a wide angle lens for that one and it only fit our 60D). He used Adobe Premiere to edit the videos.

    xx! Elsie

  • Love love LOVE the video ! Thanks for sharing a bit of your vacay … it was so inspiring ! It reminded me to slow down and enjoy the beauty along the way.

    Lynne xx

  • So awesome! Happy you guys got some much needed time off for sure 🙂 Good job Jeremy. Would love to start seeing some tidbits from him here and there on the blog. Would be fab.

  • Awesome video! What kind of a camera did you shoot most of this with? And all of the lighting/effects are so lovely! Would love some insight into how Jeremy did this…he’s extremely talented.
    Thanks 🙂

  • Ah! That frisbee catch was epic. And Emma’s and Trey’s last kiss…so sweet.

  • Really beautiful music! Where can I find more of his songs? (Off for a hunt around ABM!)…

  • Laura’s cute wavy hair is probably one of my favorite things about this video.

  • I love the video and music, so adorable! Makes me wish I was there. I have a couple of filmmaker friends in Los Angeles, California and I’d say Jeremy is as good at filmmaking as them. I love the kiss at the end with Emma and Trey. So sweet. Great video 🙂

Too bad Jeremy didn’t make it in any shots.

  • What a sweet video of your vacation! Jeremy is very talented!

  • That was really well put together. I almost felt like I was watching a commercial for Expedia or something. lol

  • You guys have NO IDEA how inspiring you are. I’m so happy you exist!

  • Oh my! You did not show the country of Costa Rica at all. Only yourself and the house. That’s a show. You could have introduce your reader to this country. Good luck next time.

  • This video is amazing and now I want a Go Pro. Also, that frisbee catch was awesome!

  • I love all the creative shots, Jeremy. The slo-mo reflection shot of jumping into the pool really caught my eye for some reason. I think it’s so fun that you all take different creative approaches to recording your time together. Must be fun to have a group of such close artistic friends!

  • I always love watching the videos you make of your trips. When editing do you use any particular software to make the videos look so dreamy and surreal or is it just really good lighting?

  • This trip looks so epic through your video and pictures. I’ve never thought about going to Costa Rica before, but now I want to go. It looks like you had so much fun.

I also love the creativity of the shots in the video and the music was perfect.
