Our First Family Album (with cell phone photos!)

I recently ordered an instax album from Blurb. It turned out so cute that I had to share photos here! I honestly haven't printed out personal photos in a few years (yikes!). It felt so good! I am going to order one before Christmas with the second part of our year in instagram photos. Blurb is super easy to use. If you have an instagram you can log in through Blurb and choose your favorite photos. If not, you can upload them. Who knew that one day I'd be making family albums with cell phone photos?! Love it.

For those interested in ordering an album, here's a coupon code I found: Save 20% On Your Entire Blurb.com Order (Code BLURB20)

  • Hi,
I really like your blog, I think I’m your biggest french fan (My english is really bad I’m sorry) !
I hope you will continu it still a long time !!
Thanks to you, I’ve make my own blog, because yours makes me want to do it ! Please, go see it and tell me what you think about..
Good luck, I’m waiting your next post,

  • Your style inspires me. Love your graphics, the mismatch, the glorious and I had been WISHING SOMEONE would make this instagram photo book possible. Super idea but more importantly – super you, I’m booking your page to keep the inspiration going.

  • Thankyou for this!
I am making photo albums of my daughter, that I’ve taken with my hipstamatic, as presents for her grandparents for christmas. I was using a program by Kikki K. but blurb sounds more affordable.

  • Hello! Im a long-time fan of Red Velvet Art! I love, love love all your stuff! I was admiring all of your photos and was wondering how you acheived that effect! The lomo-ish, hipster-esqu, vignette-with-soft-blue-hue style of your photographs is what Im talking about, haha! Is that a specific film camera you’re using? So cute and trendy! 😉

  • This is a great idea! I found a ton of old family photos and I’ve been wondering how to display them for viewing while protecting the originals.

  • I usually am not a big blog person, but I’ve “stumbled” upon yours a few times and I fell in love. You inspire me to be confident (which I generally lack) so THANK YOU!

  • Hi Elsie!

My name is Sophia and I am contacting you on behalf of Blurb. We just wanted to say that we LOVE this blog post and love your Blurb Instagram photobook – glad you enjoy it too!

We’d love to stay in regular contact with you. Please let us know if that works for you – thanks!

  • I’ve been wanting to create one of these! Lovely.

    ♥ sécia

  • These are really cute! I’m defnitely going to look in to getting one 🙂
Btw, it’s my first time on your blog, so hi! 😀

  • I’ve got a 2 year old and have never printed any of our pictures! I linked this in my blog yesterday, because I like how you’ve just embraced the cell phone/instagram thing.

I just keep procrastinating, because I’ve felt like I needed to do a full on scrapbook! This would be so simple to do every year with just cell pics. Those pics tend to be more like real life than when we break out the “real” camera, anyway! And I’m way more into living my life than preserving it all perfectly. Know what I mean?

  • More than amazing!! Making my first album right now!! Thank you for sharing :o) I have a million photos on my phone that have yet to be printed and this is brilliant! Yay!

  • gosh, I’m so lo-tech, understand nothing… but what I can say is that it sure looks cute;)

  • Just ordered my first album! I can’t wait to get more—methinks this would be the PERFECT holiday gift for our extended family <3

    (the grandparents would swoon :D)

    Thank you Elsie!

  • I ordered one of these recently, too! It mostly consisted of photos from our move across the country, from Nashville, TN to Portland, OR. SO much fun and so special to have. It’s really nice to have all of the special ingtagram/iphone photos in one little book. Love!

  • I immediately signed up and made books for my mom and sister of our recent trip to Palm Springs to give them for Christmas. They will love it! Thanks for the idea.

  • I love your blog!

Im sorry, but i cant speak english, im from Argentina…. But i try!!!!

  • I haven’t printed out photos in years either. I definitely think that books are going to be the way to go when I do.

  • elsie i absolutely love your blog to bits, and it inspired my own blog, so without you i would not be where i am, enjoying every bit of it!!! Thank you soooo much!

  • OMG I love your blog & ideas 😉
I already did a decorating of vintage leather suitcase and I will make this kind of album for my boyfriend for his B-day. 🙂
    Thanks so much!

  • Precious!! I hate that digital photography has made it so easy to not print photos :C I need to get on that, too…

  • I have been perfecting mine for the last week….and it’s still not done! Every time I get back on there to work on it, I’ve uploaded twenty new pictures on Instagram I want to include. You’ve got a great idea, splitting it up. It’s amazing how many awesome photos we take with our phones nowadays isn’t it!? Your album looks adorable! Something to cherish forever! 🙂

  • So adorable! I’m in love with Instagram right now. We are so hooked on using our cell phones for taking pictures these days – it’s great to know there’s a way to keep those images alive in print!

  • Phone pics album is a great idea because phone allow us to immortalize everyday moments when we don’t bring a camera with us.

  • Ohhh Elsie,

I ordered one with my instagram photos a few weeks ago and when it arrived home… It´s so cute!!!

i do love it as well 🙂

  • Sayna, my book is 7×7 (or maybe 6×6, i’m not sure…)

Kym, the fabric is vintage. It’s actually a curtain that I’m getting ready to hang in my closet. 🙂

  • That is so cute! <3 I love it! Thanks for sharing!

Also, you to make and adorable couple. I love how supportive Mr. Larson seems to be of you. That is one thing I’m not willing to settle for when I get married: he has to fully support me. You two are lucky to have found each other. 🙂

  • That is such a cute idea. I’ll have to try it when I get my iPhone.

    xo, rv

  • I LOVE this! I know what everybody is getting for Christmas now. Thanks for the idea. x

  • This is such a cute idea! I think I’m going to do this for all of the photos I took during my Las Vegas trip. Thanks for the idea!

  • If I had a phone that took decent photos, I’d do this too! I am getting an iphone next month, I think. I’m stoked!

  • This is so cute! i love instagram but never printed photos from it..I may just do one for our 1year anniversary- the perfect “paper” gift!

  • This is so gorgeous, what a great gift something like this would make! Gotta remember this! xo

  • This is such a cute idea! I sort of love that we live in a time where we can take really great photos anytime and have them to look at immediately. Although, there’s something both magical and sad to think of all those undeveloped rolls of film out there in the world. We should all be thankful that all of our photos will be seen, cherished and loved.

  • What a unique way to share your photos! I am definitely going to do it!

Plus, you were part of the inspiration for my new bangs!!

  • Adorable 🙂 Great idea!

    Look who’s Wearing (LwW)

  • How fantastic! It looks great and I will definitely ordering one of my own! Thanks for the idea 🙂

  • This is so awesome! I need an iphone just for this….probably time I upgrade from my Razor anyway ha

  • Great idea and it looks amazing! I’ve never even thought of doing an album like that so thanks for the tip 🙂

  • oh wow, yours turned out really lovely!
i am going to order one in a few weeks with all the photos i took during this summer, so thanks for the coupon code!
    have a lovely day 🙂

  • aww that looks so cute, Elsie, what a great idea! 🙂 I still remember watching your old scrapbook creations and thinking you were probably the person who printed more pictures on Earth haha 🙂

  • Just lovely. Blurb really is a wonderful publisher, aren’t they? The quality and prices are superb. In some ways, better than printing individual photos, as it ensures that they a) all stay in one place (and won’t get lost), and b) never fade. Plus, I think our children would relish books such as these. For posterity purposes. XO
