I’m so excited to share our Spooky Village with you again this year (here’s last year’s). We decided to add one house to it this year, which I’ll share below!
First, let me quickly summarize how we made the houses!
Each of our houses are birdhouses which you can find at craft stores as well as dozens of cute options here. First, I sketched out ideas in my notebook—there are SO many cute ideas you can come up with for different types of shops and town “amenities,” haha.
I started off with a few designs and then let Nova take the reign on two houses last year—augh! They are SO cute.
Anyway, 99% of these houses are just craft paint. This year we also added a ton of googly eyes.
So basically, you can probably just buy a birdhouse and then use stuff you ALREADY HAVE to start your village! It’s a great activity to do with little kids. Not only are they fun to make, but our kids also play with them (as toys!) almost every day.

Here’s the new house. We had so much fun making this! Since we used regular (Elmer’s) glue, we had to do one side one day and then wait for them to dry. So it took a while and Nova loved doing it!
These are my personal favorites. Which one is your favorite??
If you make a spooky village, please tag us on Instagram so we can see!!!!
I love Halloween SO MUCH and I hope you are having a fun season too. xx- Elsie
