hello there. i have a fun little Do-It-Yourself project to share today! i did this project with my brother, Doren, in an afternoon. We had fun! ♥
We used our new Silhouette SD cutter. It's a really great tool for cutting paper, vinyl and heat transfers (that's what we used). Doren used it to make a bunch of stuff, actually! Next, I want to make temporary tattoos and I am going to try to make some stuff for my wedding too.
Other supplies needed: A vintage velvet pillow, a lightly patterned cotton fabric, buttons and spray adhesive.
Step One: Create your design in the software that comes with the cutter. It's easy to use. Step Two: Use the silhouette cutter to create your design.
Step Three: Peel the unwanted part of the heat transfer material off of the plastic so that only the letters (or design) remain.
Step Four: Place the heat transfer sheet on the fabric you want to transfer it to. It should be facing down (so that the words are *not* backwards). Iron and peel the plastic off.
Ta-Da! Your transfer is complete. (thanks, Doren!)
Step Five: Trim the excess fabric around the text and use spray adhesive to adhere it to a vintage velvet pillow.
Step Six: Stitch buttons and felt embellishments around the fabric piece to create a cute border and hide the edges.
There you have it! A cute and simple personalized pillow. XXO! elsie
oh my!! what a wonderful adorable little idea!! I’m thinking about crafting up some of my christmas presents this year, so a big trip to my craft store is coming soon – now that I’ve finished my exams!!
woo!
How cute is your brother! I loved the fact that you used the Silhouette SD for that purpose! I posted about it in my blog a while ago. It seems like an awesome device to have!
Oh, that is SO cute! How perfect is it that the pillow is red velvet too? Those little flowers are amazing. I’d LOVE to win that machine! 🙂 I hope you have a magical birthday, Elsie!
Wow!
the things that you do always put a smile on my face 🙂
The silhoutte SD it’s just perfect for what I’m looking for!
Thanks for sharing!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELSIE! hope your day is full with pretty vintage stuff 😀
I just happened upon your site last Friday and I have been going through ALL your posts all weekend long!! Love your art, crafts, scrap booking and store- you seem like a fun, free spirited and completely unique person- wish I had a friend like you to create things with! Happy Belated Birthday xo
I have never seenor heard of this before, this silouhette sd is absolutely amazing. It makes arts and crafts easier. As much as I love creating scrapbooks, quilts, and tee shirts, this would make life so much easier. I am quite impressed! P.s. Your pillow came out simply lovely! What a fantastic idea!
I am thankful for the internet. And all the new doors it has opened for me and others. If it weren’t for the world wide web, I wouldn’t have found this kick ass website with wonderful ideas and style. Your work is fantastic! Thanks for sharing with us!
Very crafty and unique! A sofa is not complete without cute pillows on it. But if you’ve got the wrong pillow for your sofa, the rest will turn out to be wrong also. So in buying pillows, always consider the color, texture, size and shape of your sofa for it to turn out really well.
