Pumpkin Pie Milkshake Recipe

This milkshake brings all the boys to the yard. Just kidding!

What's fun about this treat is you can use a store-bought pumpkin pie and it's super easy to whip up a big batch of these for friends. Or you can use a homemade pumpkin pie (maybe the left over few pieces) and enjoy this sweet and decadent dessert.

We made our own pumpkin pie (first one of the season) and my kitchen instantly smelled like autumn. I used a slightly adapted version of Paula Deen's recipe. The only changes I made were to use 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 brown sugar (instead of just 1 cup of sugar, I like the added flavor of using some brown sugar). And I used 2 eggs instead of 1 egg + 2 egg yolks (I thought this didn't seem necessary, and in my opinion the pie turned out great!).

Once you've made your pie let is cool for a few hours or overnight. To make a single milkshake blend together 1 slice of pumpkin pie, 2 cups vanilla ice cream and 1 to 1 1/2 cups milk. If you are making multiple milkshakes at once simply double or triple this recipe to suit your guest list.

We garnished our milkshakes with a few mini pumpkin pies I had made, just for fun!

  • The kindness of things. I do not know what I would do, if I did not find such a theme. I can see at this moment, my future. Thank you very much reliable and results-oriented guidance

  • I think I usually buy Dreyers and smeetioms they have it seasonally at Baskin Robbins. I’m sure Trader Joe’s will come out with an amazing pumpkin ice cream, especially since I no longer live near one. How I miss that store. I used to shop there weekly when I lived in Southern California but there are none in Florida ridiculous!

  • Oh for heaven’s sake, cnaend? That’s just yucky! Get a butternut squash, cut it in half, scoop out the seeds, and roast it for 45 minutes in a 350 degree oven (until the skin pulls away easily) and spend the five minutes it takes to peel it. It’s really easy, and it’s so much yummier. This will work with any sweet winter squash you don’t have to use a pumpkin. If you do use a pumpkin, don’t roast it whole cut it before you roast it, so that it fits in the pan. A pumpkin probably won’t have to roast as long, because it’s thinner. You can use powdered milk mix it in with regular milk. Use about a quarter of the sugar the Libby’s recipe calls for the squash (or pumpkin) is nearly sweet enough on its own. It’s no accident that the pilgrims were able to live on these.

  • We just spend a little time at both. I think eveonrye would be a little bit disappointed if they didn’t see us (or Ethan, really). Luckily, they are both really close by. And I don’t have to cook a thing.

  • I have made this a couple times and it was fstatanic!!! I couldn’t belive how easy it was . everyone was so impressed that I madeefbbbf it from scratch I did add a little extra cornstarch because I thought the juice make the bottom crust a little soggy for my taste. Perfect!!!

  • Genius! I’m obsessed with all things pumpkin, specially pumpkin pie. I can’t wait to try this. And a pumpkin spice latte. I’ve never, ever had one. Can you believe it? I heard about them from your blog and missed ’em last fall. Stupid, stupid me. I’ll rectify that situation this year though!

  • My cravings for pumpkin pie, which were already frequent and strong, have now multiplied times 1000. Thanks so much, Elsie. :p

Thank you for always keeping me inspired <3 my day isn’t complete with out reading a beautiful mess, food coma and skunk boys.

  • YUM. I live in Denmark where the canned pumpkin is impossible to find, so anything pumpkin pie related instantly makes my taste buds tingle with memories of home.

  • I am literally salivating. I wish we would get some fall weather in New York so I can start baking.

  • This looks absolutely fabulous! I love pumpkin pie and I love milkshakes! Speaking of milkshakes, there’s a place near my house and their shake of the month is Butterbeer – I love it!

    Anywho – fantastic recipe!

  • oh.my! i LOVE pumpkin & become slightly obsessed with it each fall season. this is just another thing to add to my list of must-eats! yum!

  • I fell in love with this idea the moment I saw it! However I didn’t have a pumpkin pie at hand, and was too lazy to bake one, so I improvised. I put French Vanilla Ice cream, milk, Pumpkin Pie filling (from the can~so un-classy, but it worked) and a pinch of cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg. I topped each glass with a dollop of whip cream…yummy!

  • This is such a cute and yummy looking idea <3 With pumpkin pie being my ultimate favorite pie, I will be trying this. 🙂

  • This is an awsome way to anticipate fall! I just got an email from SEW DAILY, and it had a picture of your studio in it!!!! Awsome!

  • How ca-ute is this! YUM! My hubby’s bday is in October so I will most definitely have to serve this!

  • Goodness! My mouth is watering so much just looking at the pictures! I have to try it sooon! =D
    Thanks so much for sharing!

  • Pumpkin Pie Milkshake? Wow!! We really don’t do that much with pumpkin’s in the UK! This is giving me ideas…! x

  • This looks so delicious and is an awesome idea! I can’t wait to eat everything pumpkin flavored once the weather cools down.

  • This is great! I can’t wait to make these. I had been hearing that McDonald’s (gag) was coming out with a Pumpkin Pie Milkshake & contemplated trying to make a recipe of my own so I didn’t have to go there. Thanks for doing the hard work for me!

  • These look absolutely delicious! Definitely will be making some of these this fall. My favorite season!

  • These look too good to eat/drink! But I might just make an exception because I LOVE pumpkin pie. You have me drooling over here.

  • You both make me so happy.
    And so do these milkshakes.

  • What a shame pumpkin pie isn’t popular in my country! If only I had an oven…
Your piece of cake looks delicious!

  • This sounds very intriguing! I would love to try it. Although last time i had pumkin pie i didn’t enjoy it that much.MMaybe it will taste better in milkshake form!

  • YES! it’s fall, this is my first pumpkin recipe ive seen. makes me feel all warm and cozy inside! can’t wait to try it and feed my obsession xxo

  • Oh no! These look dangerous! Both my husband and I love pumpkin pie, so I started growing pumpkins this year and the insane heat we had (or some kind of disease, I’m not an expert gardener) killed them off. Now I’m waiting for them to show up at the farmers’ market. This is a great idea for leftover pumpkin pie! I’ll have to try it.

  • Is it cazy that I want to bake a pie just for the milkshakes??!! Haha! Looks soo good

  • Wow! All of your posts lately have definitely gotten me into the fall/autumn mood! I’m suddenly craving Pumpkin Spice Latte’s, cool jacket weather, and one of these yummy milkshakes! This is a must try! Thanks for sharing! <3

  • I want to make this immediately! Step 1: replace the blender that I shattered last week…. hopefully there is one at the thrift store!

  • This looks insanely rich, but so good!
I will need to make a pumpkin pie from scratch, as they don’t sell them over here and I have to make a special trip just to get the tinned pumpkin.
I have a feeling it will be worth it!
