Sister Style: Behind The Scenes

Elsie + Emma of A Beautiful MessElsie + Emma of A Beautiful MessElsie + Emma of A Beautiful MessElsie + Emma of A Beautiful MessWorking together is insanely fun and inspiring. Emma and I work together most days of the week. Sister Style is one of our favorite weekly shoots. We love getting dressed up and going out to fun locations to snap photos. Lately, we've both been interested in building a fresh wardrobe for Spring. It's funny how from year to year our styles change slightly. This season feels very eclectic. I have been hunting for basic pieces, bold vintage patterns and unique pieces.

Our friend, Sarah, was sweet enough to snap some photos of us in my bedroom where we usually get prepped for photo shoots!

  • love this look behind the scenes. I always love behind-the-scenes stuff. 🙂

  • I don’t have a sister so this looks really sweet and fun to me. I’m finding my style for this season leaning more towards vintage with an edge (I always have to have an edge no matter what I’m wearing)

  • I love how messy it is – exactly how a creative workspace should look!

  • Seems like you guys had a great time and having girl time is lot more fun than anything.

  • Great shots! I love the black turtleneck and polka dot skirt, Elsie! the relationship that you and Emma share is so sweet– I am envious!

  • I love to see all your stuff. Especially those shoes. Amazing!!!
Such a cute behind the scenes post. Love it.
    XO Samantha

  • Great pictures! Very natural. I think it’s great you both have such a good relationship as sisters and as business partners. It works for you 🙂

  • You two are so beautiful! I absolutely love seeing sneak peeks of your home Elsie, that sofa is so lovely! My boyfriend is buying a house soon so we are both going a bit interior decor MAD. I cannot wait to start decorating!

  • I always love your sister style shots and I think one of the things that totally makes it is how much fun you two have together!! 🙂 I’m still so into stripes and totally loving polka dots this year!

  • hi!
i really like your blog – it cheers up my days! but this post is kind of strange for me… the pictures seem to be so “posed”, artificial – no real “behind the scenes”. Sorry.

  • This makes me miss my sister like crazy!

  • Lovely post, you guys are so adorable!
You also have tons of really fab items in this pic! Can’t wait to see the outcome of this shoot!

Jenny from Yeah, It’s Pretty Awesome

  • These photos are lovely and I totally respect your style. Loving the bright, quirky colors! Wish I had a sister of my own! 🙁

  • I’ve always felt that I don’t have a specific style and that I like looking different every day, but lately I’ve been become more aware of what I really love. I’m really drawn to simpler shapes and colours, with some pattern here and there.

  • Love your collection of shoes here! Cute pictures xox

  • You both look so cute!! Love these photos 🙂

You look nice and real.. I love it!

  • I just want you to know that you ladies make me so happy and inspired. Thank you

  • I love everything about this. Even though I’m sure its staged, it looks so candid 🙂 Great shots.

    xo Ashley

  • You’re building a fresh wardrobe? I’d totally kill to shop at whatever Goodwill you donate to 😉

  • Looks like you two had so much fun! I always look forward to the sister style post!

  • I love shopping my own closet – looks like you two gals are having so much fun!

  • So cute! I love the fun natural looks from you lovely ladies.

  • I like these pictures but to say they are behind the scenes is a little bit silly. Behind the scene photos are supposed to be candid, unposed, and real. These are anything but that. They look so posed it is almost uncomfortable.

  • I love my sisters. The three of us have incredibly very different styles but at the same time we still manage and love sharing our clothes.

  • i get so excited to find sister style posts on bloglovin. excited for the next one!

  • Wow…I so envy you. Unfortunately, I’m the only child and always wished I had a sister. i imagine if I had a sister, our relationship would like what you two have. Definitely treasure what you two have, always.

  • Love your site!

    I like Elsie’s selection more

  • Nice to see the backstages of your Sister Style posts !! Lovely pics…

Check out my new outfit post :

  • Such lovely photos! Always enjoy seeing your sister style posts!

  • Love these photos and the top one is my fave 🙂

    Lulu xx

  • Love these pictures…so cute..

  • Could you stage these anymore? Nothing about this looks natural. You use to be so real and it seems so produced and showy now. Sad.

  • You guys are so adorable and look as though you’re having a blast. That first picture of Elsie smiling with the light behind her, is gorgeous!

  • I love that orange sweater. I recently bought two orange items for myself, it seems to be everywhere at the moment. You girls are cute. Check out my site, I do free patterns and tutorials among other things.

  • Great photos. You both look like you have such fun working together.
    Claire Nina x

  • Ha, that looks like a perfect time and I like all that hats. And that pics muste be great. Have a nice weekend.

  • This is seriously too cute, nothing is stronger than the bond of sisters! These show that bond! Great photos, love the colors.

  • It’s so cute to see you guys picking clothes together!

    Kindness is the best accessory,

  • I always wanted a sister. You two are very lucky. 🙂

  • Looks like fun! I’m loving all the bold prints this year!

If you’re looking for unique pieces, you should check out this store. I found it off of Delightfully Tacky’s blog! She has some great animal motifs and crazy cute prints for dresses and accessories.

  • I love you two’s sense of style! Every time I visit your blog I am inspired! 🙂 I especially love the fashion mixologies you do. After the first time I read one I suddenly realized how many different outfits I could make out of just a few articles of clothing! I use the maxiskirt/dress tick alllll the time! I have even done the same thing with regular skirt to make a shirt! 🙂 you guys are awesome!:) ok I’m done now. 🙂

  • This is such a fun shoot. Reminds me of the tip that I read in your Blog Love e-session on how readers love to see behind the scenes! So true. You girls are gorgeous & so creative!!

  • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these photos! I admire you a lot, girls!! 😀

  • here’s a combo for you to try … yellow dress with white daisies with black or navy saddle shoes and in the fifth picture there is fabric that is trimmed in chartreuse with peach/black/aqua print and if needed you can pair it with black/navy brim hat. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • Such lovely photos 🙂 Really love the colour of your sofa, a lot! Rosie xxx
