Sister Style: Coffee Shop Dates

Sister StyleWhen it comes to daily routines, there’s not a whole lot I love more than my morning coffee. At the risk of sounding dramatic, it’s PURE MAGIC. Every single morning. M A G I C.

And of course, I love coffee shops. Bonus points for cute shops with the best colors (I’m lookin’ at you, Barista Parlor Golden Sound) and extra credit points for donuts.

Summertime sure is growing on me. Even when it’s hot as hell, I love my too-short dresses (there are shorts under there, don’t freak out!), an iced drink, and the promise of fireflies every night when it gets dark. I’ve always been an autumn person, but this year I’m branching out and learning to love all four seasons (even if I have to love winter from Palm Springs – hahaha).

Anyway – forgive my rambling! Here are some more outfit pics and scroll down to see Emma’s too!

Sister Style Take it away, sister!!!

Emma Chapman Emma Chapman Emma Chapman I could not agree more – coffee is pure magic! And I like my magic black (get it, black coffee? black magic? see what I did there?). I also love Barista Parlor Golden Sound. Elsie took me there last time I was in Nashville, and it was so good!

Also, Elsie and I have matching purses in this post – totally by accident really. Sister purses. 😉

  • Such cute outfits! Elsie, I love this hair color. Totally suits you. xx

  • Such a beautiful dress!! x

  • Love this! My boyfriend and I are visiting Nashville, and we just visited the Barista Parlor in East Nashville yesterday, not realizing there was one right near our airbnb in the Gulch. We’re making our way through your recommendations. Pinewood Social and Biscuit Love were awesome!

  • ahmazinggg phots, you both look lovely x

  • Hey There!

I just want to start off by saying that I super respect everyone at ABM. In a lot of ways you’re incredibly inspiring, positive human beings, and it’s amazing that you’ve chosen to share & maintain that so consistently for so long.

But something that’s been bothering me for a while is that while you all make an effort to take care of yourselves (with natural skin care, clean-eating, etc), there seems to be little to no awareness of environmental consciousness. While it’s true you present a curated picture of your lives here on the blog, and I’m sure there are a lot of things that don’t necessarily make the cut, I can’t help but feel that your sister style feature could be enriched by some small discussion of the impact we as women (being the dominant consumers of cheap clothing) have on the environment and the world.

You obviously have the means to spend a little more on your clothing and shoes (which is awesome… I don’t want this to come off as if I’m begrudging you your success), but as a result it’s a little hard for me to scroll through these features and see that you’re consistently featuring pieces from Forever21 or H&M… cheap clothing produced in unethical ways that most often ends up in landfills. I’m not saying it should be a huge focus, but you guys have a great platform here, and it doesn’t feel off-message for you to acknowledge that our choices of where we shop & who we buy from matter.

Also, you totally don’t have to publish this, I’m not really trying to call you out in a public way, it’s just something I’ve been thinking about for a while that I wanted to share with y’all.

  • You both have such amazing style! I love Elsie’s round sunglasses and Emma’s shoes are really cool! I’m also digging the matching purses, they look amazing in both colors!

  • I love to check out cute local coffee shops. I visited Barista Parlor when I was in Nashville a few weeks ago and loved it! It was such a unique shop! (had to talk my travel group into going…they’re not coffee enthusiasts like us…lol) Love both of your outfits, too!

  • That David Bowie tee is TOO good, and on sale now at Free People! Just ordered one 😀

  • It’s flat iron curls. You can see how I do them here- xx- Elsie

  • I don’t think so, I think it’s just that the shoulder ties are tied tighter?

    xx- Elsie

  • Sooooo glad you are still doing Sister Style even though you live apart from each other right now. It’s my fave!!!

  • Loving both of your outfits! Totally brings out the summer vibes. x

  • You guys are the cutest! I’m obsessed with your dress, Elsie! 🙂

  • I totally dig your sunnies Elsie!

  • Morning routines are great, aren’t they!? Especially when they include things you absolutely LOVE! I love the idea of great coffee every morning (even though I’m not a coffee person!) Cute post!

  • Elsie–I love your wavy hair! Did you use the tutorial Laura did on getting waves with a hairdryer? Or could you share your technique?

  • Emma, I love your top!
And I loove the sister style posts, keep ’em coming! 🙂

  • I love both outfits and the bags are so cute! I’m not a big fan of coffee to be honest… if I ever do have coffee it needs a lot of milk and sugar haha

  • A tea person over here – I have NEVER ever had a morning coffee!

  • Such a cute dress, Elsie! Yours is much higher cut in the front (which I love!) than the shop photo – are you wearing it backwards?

  • Your yellow dress is literally amazing. We’re obsessed with how fun and flirty yellow is this summer. Also, your look & your sister’s are the perfect opposites — we love the contrasting looks!

    The Newsette

  • LOVE both your outfits and your sass Elsie! Ha! Is the Barista Parlor sign made out of laser-cut acrylic? I love it!
