Sister Style: Summer Vibes

Emma of A Beautiful MessEmma Chapman Emma Chapman Emma Chapman Emma of A Beautiful Mess Summer is in full swing—finally! I love all four seasons and am so glad that I where I live I get to experience them all but I must admit, I love summer SO much! Here’s few things that I want to make happen this season:

-hiking + take pictures (lots of pictures!!!!!)
-camping (s’mores!)
-a boat day or canoeing/rafting
-sip a few Radlers (my favorite summer beer)
-a trip to Kansas City with friends
-a trip to Crystal Bridges (art museum) for our anniversary
-get my parents to go to a pizza night at the Milsap farms (they have a brick oven and it’s amazing!)

I’ve also got lots and lots of cookbook photography in my future as we’ll be turning in all the photos for the book in mid July—whoa! I still can’t believe I get to do that project, and that a big piece of it is almost over already. Life moves SO fast sometimes!

What about you sister? I know I’m invading your house a few weeks this summer to work on pictures together. But what else have you got planned for this season?

FLWR shopI’m loving this season! We’re starting to feel really settled here in Nashville and in our new home. Now that our renovation is mostly over, we’re able to focus on new things and it feels REALLY good.

Some things I’m excited about this season:
– Finding some spots we can be “regulars” at (it’s one of the things we really miss about our hometown).
– Swimming!
– Visiting family for our summer vacation.
– Getting tattoos with my little brother.
– Having breakfast in our sunroom.
– Trying some new recipes.

Oh! I’m so sorry I initially forgot to mention that my photos were taken at FLWR shop in East Nashville (the CUTEST spot with the absolute nicest owners)!

  • I just listened to a podcast and it made me think about you ladies and your love for shoes/clogs made with wood.

Some styles actually started during WWII because French women did not want to give up fashion but they also were in the middle a war and had to find other materials to use for heels. Very random, but I found it interesting and thought you might too.

  • I love both these looks! You ladies always look so beautiful! 🙂

  • Summer is my favourite season too and I love almost everything you’ve listed for your plans, Emma. That red dress is gorgeous on you, Elsie. Hope the Summer time is wonderful for you both.

  • Emma! When you go to Crystal Bridges, be sure to leave room for Bentonville Square! i.e. Tusk & Trotter, Table Mesa, 21c Museum, and The Press Room Coffee Bar! If you go to Fayetteville, be sure to check out Puritan Coffee Co., Oynx, Mama Carmen’s Espresso Cafe, Arsaga’s at the Depot, Greenhouse Grille, Little Bread Co., and/or Deluxe Burger. 🙂 I went to college in the area and lived in Fayettevile for several years. It’s one of my favorites. If you go over the weekend, the Saturday morning Farmer’s Markets {Bentonville Square and Fayetteville Square} are both simply delightful. Enjoy your visit! You’re going to love it!

  • I’ve yet to check out FLWR shop, but I’m dying to go! Maybe this weekend 🙂 Your Chloe sunnies – did you get them at last chance by chance?? lol.

  • Emma, I love those glasses….and how are you doing with your nail biting? I am doing pretty good….haven’t chewed mine in at least a couple of months!

Both of your dresses are precious 🙂

  • I’m so embarrassed I forgot to note that. It’s at FLWR Shop in 5 points in East Nashville, one of my favorite places to go!
    xx- Elsie

  • I love both but the banana dress is definitely my favorite!

  • Please, WHERE were elsie’s photos taken?! that interior looks like my dream home! I have to try to find more photos of it!!

  • Loving both of your outfits! They’re so cute and quirky! I’m so with you – looking forward to s’more time! Not a huge camping fan (rather have a big squishy bed and indoor plumbing) but there really is nothing better than s’mores on a summer night!

  • Elsie, I LOVE that dress on you, and Emma, that purse is sooo cute!

  • Summer is definitely one of my favorite times of year! I’m looking forward to lazy days by the pool, evening walks, lots of ice-cream and maybe a quick roadtrip to Kansas City myself.

Emma, you will LOVE Crystal Bridges! I live about twenty minutes away and was a college ambassador there for nearly a year. I even took a summer American Landscape Painting specific Art History course there one summer. I have a pretty soft spot for the whole museum and it is nothing short of fun and beautiful every time I get the chance to go. Highly recommend checking out the Bentonville Square when and if you go! So many good places to eat or grab coffee are very near (Press Room Coffee, Onyx Coffee Lab, Oven & Tap, Foxhole Public House, Tusk & Trotter and Table Mesa are highlights)!

  • I love both of your outfits! (As always.)
Emma, what was your experience with Romwe? I’ve heard mixed reviews, but the first thing I thought when I got to this post is, “I LOVE that banana dress!”
