More kitchen storage is something that we’ve probably all wished for one time or another. This is especially true if your home has a small countertop where space is at a premium (or if you just like to have your countertop as uncluttered as possible). We love the idea of using blank wall space to create a vertical organization system in a kitchen, so we decided to make our own to keep our new studio kitchen neat and tidy.
Supplies:
-3 24″ towel bars (we used this one)
-Bamboo utensil holders (similar ones here and here)
-Metal shower curtain rings
-Power drill
Step One: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to attach the towel bars to the wall. (If your towel bar doesn’t already come with one, you’ll want to use a wall anchor when installing the towel bars so they can hold a fair amount of weight.) Make sure to space the bars so that there will be about 6″ of space between the bottom of your utensil holder and the next bar below it.
Step Two: Use a power drill and drill a hole about 1 1/2″ from the top of each of your utensil holders.
Step Three: Open your shower curtain ring, slide one end through the hole and the other end over the towel bar, and snap the ring closed.
Step Four: Fill your utensil holders with whatever kitchen items you like. If you decide to put flowers or a plant in one of your holders, make sure to line the container with either a pot, vase, or even a plastic bag first for leak protection and easy clean-up.
We are pretty over-the-moon with how this vertical storage turned out—we love it! All the items are easily accessible but contained and out of the way. Think you’re up for making your own kitchen storage wall? xo. Laura

This is a great diy organization project for the kitchen!
I’m an editor at U-Haul’s blog, Moving Insider and our readers expecially enjoy when we publish DIY projects for the home.
I personally enjoyed this post. If you are interested in guest blogging for us in the future. Please shoot me an email. I feel you have great insight for our readers! (In exchange, we could write a post for your website too!)
This is a great idea and simple. This is something every DIY’er can do.
This looks wonderful! Luckily my kitchen is a labyrinth of storage space but if it weren’t I would definitely have a go at this. I’m actually considering doing it on the external wall in the garden for our gardening tools. Infinitely more attractive than sticking them all in a big bucket…!
Love this idea!!! I’m always trying to find good organization tips!
Thanks for following me btw 🙂 looking forward to reading more from you!

Target has some these on clearance ladies and gents! Snatch them up!
I love the mix of wood and metal. Something I am doing more and more of around our house! Thanks for the inspiration and always, the beautiful images!
I absolutely adore this idea! I wish I had a wall in my kitchen to do this on, but I think it would be great on a different wall and just use for plants!

This is cute, but it seems awfully expensive for something that would be more useful if it was on the other side of your kitchen. My personal opinion though!

So unique! what a wonderful idea!
What a great idea. I wish I had a free wall to do something like this. It would remove some of the clutter on my counter! I’ll keep this pinned for when I redesign my kitchen. Thanks!!

Your ideas for vertical kitchen organization seem absolutely fabulous, moreover every average housewife may easily apply them without any special support by her hubby.
Love it! This is something I definitely plan to do as I have few counters, but one free wall just the right size for this.
Great idea! I love it!
Such a cool idea! It looks great!
What a fantastic idea! I love the touches of greens and pinks with the plants hanging next to the utensils… I imagine you can plant herbs in there as well to be more kitchen friendly! xx

PERFECT! I can’t wait to try this out!
INCREDIBLE! I have a small kitchen space and have turned to decoratively hanging pans on the walls, but this takes things to another level. I love that you can virtually clear off your counter tops and do so in such a chic way. Perfect idea for smaller spaces. LOVE.
Cheers,

Very cute! We did this same thing but with the wall rails and containers made for hanging on them that Ikea sells. It is such a good idea for storage, especially for unorganized people like me. I can never find utensils I need in our kitchen drawer.
Great way to add storage to a typically cramped room. Gonna share this out!
I found myself thinking about all kinds of other things you could use as the storage containers themselves. Thanks for the idea!
This is the most stunning kitchen storage I think I’ve ever seen! How do you guys and gals think of such clever ideas?!

Love the idea of a storage wall! I also love the idea of stuff hanging from ceilings, could you try that??

I love this! I have an awkwardly empty space on our kitchen wall, so this might be what we need. It would be a great way to keep plants and herbs around without our silly cats devouring them!

Such a great idea! We sure have a lack of counter space! But unfortunately in a small house- we also have a lack of blank wall space too! 🙂
This looks great though and is functional storage while being stylish as well!
