Hi friends! It's Mandi from Here's Looking at Me Kid I'm so happy to be here as a contributing blogger for Elsie's super cute blog. Last November, Apartment Therapy did a house tour of our Ohio home and we received lots of love about the art hanging on our walls.
Creating a frame wall in an empty space of your home is a fun way to decorate, if you're not scared of putting some nail holes in the wall! Before I hung any of the frames, I laid out the arrangement on my floor to be sure I liked the way it all fit together. But since this photo was taken, the wall has changed a lot, and there are some holes hiding out behind the frames. I found most of these pieces by scouring thrift stores and antique shops, but you can get the same look without all the hard work by shopping the vintage section of Etsy. Here are a few lovely pieces I found for sale on Etsy that I would adore to have hanging in my own home.
Some of my favorites right now are vintage illustrations and cartoons, crewel work and embroidered art, and paint by numbers. And my rule of thumb when creating a frame wall is, the more the merrier!

Ahh I absolutely love embroidered art! I found two incredible pieces at a thrift store for a $1 one time! I love your wall and your pictures! Adorable =]
Love this so so much, Mandi!
cuteeeness! love it, your home is beautiful!
xo.
Too cute! I have an almost identical piece to the one with the flowers and squirrel. Love them all!
…and Mandi, you’re in North Canton? I went to Kent State and spent lots of time in your neck of the woods. Too cute!
woodland animald and ‘schrooms get my vote!
Mandi, your wall is scrumptious! I’m finding that one of my favorite wall decorations at the moment are embroidery rings with a piece of white cloth and some nice embroidery motif. They make such natural frames as well!
Also, the two pieces from icondesign’s shop reminded me of these four needlework ‘paintings’ my grandparents have in their house – each of them depicts a scene from one of the four seasons, and they got them while my dad and his sister were still kids, with the idea of each member of the family completing one of the seasons. Of course, in the end, my grandpa had to finish them all… 🙂
Mandi,
Have you seen the picture hanging strips by 3m? They’re like chunky plastic velcro with the command adhesive on the back that releases from the wall when you stretch it.
I’ve used those for a big frame wall in my house and it’s really easy to change out, reposition and no drilling required. Oh, and so quick! It was hard not to continue up onto the roof and cover every available scrap of wall with yummy framed things!
Oh and I LOVE that pocket watch clock!

“try a little kindness” – I love that! I feel inspired to create a frame wall of my own now. Oh and that embroidered blue squirrel is too cute!
total cuteness!
@Bec – I am so glad you mentioned that! We just moved into a home with picture rail molding so it sort of limits us in the art department. Finding these is great because then I can create fun vignettes without using the hooks and cables!
I love the look of groups of framed pictures, but I just don’t own enough art to pull it off yet! I’m workin’ on it 😉
haha i love charlie brown
OMGoodness!!!! I just had to post about the Charlie Brown!!! I remember being in this musical in high school!!! Oh the memories!!! I remember wanting to play Lucy but my choir teacher said that my nature was too soft for the part. LOL!!! Thanks a bunch for taking me back Elsie!
Crewel and Paint by numbers are 2 of my faves!! I had to quit “cold turkey” on the Paint by Numbers though- so addicting. I put the overflow in my vintage shop- if you want to take a look, I’ll link my shop in this comment.
so cute. i love the charlie brown!
Oh I would love to have half of your creativity 🙁
One can never have enough crewel! Love the pieces you picked out:)
I have been wandering online since the past couple of hours and accidentally came to your blog post..Just admiring the way you conclude your post:***********Creating a frame wall in an empty space of your home is a fun way to decorate, if you’re not scared of putting some nail holes in the wall! This is the best thing for me! I also want to create a frame wall, which can lead my memory, in my home.
The second and more recent sense of the word art is as an abbreviation for creative art or fine art. Fine art means that a skill is being used to express the artist’s creativity, or to engage the audience’s aesthetic sensibilities, or to draw the audience towards consideration of the finer things. Often, if the skill is being used in a common or practical way, people will consider it a craft instead of art. Likewise, if the skill is being used in a commercial or industrial way, it will be considered Commercial art instead of fine art.
now that was an art. love it! it’s super cute. wish i have a talent like that too. *sigh*
It’s absolutely Perfect!I love the way on how you decorate those frames on the wall, and it goes with the floor too.Cool!

Excellent news, I look forward to more of the HTML5 form stuff and especially its incorporation into JavaScript UI libraries. Except… how will web developers eat if they
can’t charge for “Enter search term here” form enhancements 😉

I really feel celebrity fashion houses are no better than a madhouse. The kind of things celebrities can do to stay in limelight is disgusting. I sometimes wonder if they value any other thing in life more than glamour. They eat, drink and sleep in brand names. Pity on them!
