Won’t You Be My Neighborhood Dress: 3 Ways

3 Ways To Wear It (A Beautiful Mess for ModCloth Collection)I had so much fun dreaming up this next dress. The house appliques make it really fun. I chose houses because autumn is my favorite season to be at home. I love the fit of this dress, it's super flattering! Thanks so much to my beautiful pal, Katie, for modeling these looks.

Look 1This first styling is a little more work ready. You could wear this to a meeting or out to a business lunch, but it's still colorful and fun!

Styling Details: Dress/Blazer(similar)/Vintage Purse + Scarf/Red Heels(similar)

Look 2Layering a longer skirt over a shorter dress is something we do often in 3 Ways To Wear It. This styling works especially well with this dress because the top is so cute on it's own! I love the bold white collar against an all black styling. A scarf as a belt is another quick trick to get a belt in a color you may not own.

Styling Details: Dress/Scarf as Belt/Skirt(vintage)/Bag/Clogs

Look 3This last styling is classic and easy. I love layering cardigans because this time of year it's easy to get hot and cold often! The knotted scarf is fun to wear and these brown heels will match just about any outfit this season!

Styling Details: Dress/Cardigan/Scarf/Shoes

Fun! It's been fun sharing these posts! I can't wait till next week when the collection finally launches on ModCloth! I'll be back soon with more details. xo. elsie

  • Woww… good piece of work, i really liked the idea of house on dress no 1 n 3. And no 3 model is also cool..

  • The dress is ADORABLE in each style. I honestly can’t pick a favorite. But those red shoes… THOSE SHOOOES! I’d die for a pair like that.

  • These looks are just spot on brilliant. I love everything about them and the detail. Her red hair is just lovely.

  • Beautiful design. I love this dress! And, side question, how does katie manage to keep her hair so vibrant all the time? I love it! I’m also a redhead, but, as I get older my natural color is fading, and dyes also seem to fade so quickly. Any secrets to keeping that rock’n color?

  • Aw this is so cute! I love her hair too!

  • As soon as I saw this dress in the original debut I ONLY though…Katie! It really is made for her. #3 is perfect! #2 would make me look like I’ve been going off the deep end with pumpkin doughnuts. 😉

  • I would never think to put a skirt over a dress-brillant! my wardrobe just doubled. thx!

  • This is my first time seeing Katie’s work; the look is sophisticated, fun, and shows real insight into fashion past and present. Rosemary

  • This is so.cute. omg! Love all three looks – I keep searching for a “midi” accordion skirt that I can try this with, but haven’t found one that works on my body well. This one is to die for!

  • I love the little house prints on the dress. It turns it from a plain black dress, to a quirky, fun one.
