My Favorite Homemade Brownies

Equipment

  • 1 8x8 square baking pan

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces dark chocolate
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 ½ cups granulated white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • cup all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • Melt the chocolate and the butter together. You can do this in a double boiler but I usually do it in 30-second increments in the microwave.
  • Stir in the eggs and sugar.
  • Then, stir in the flour.
  • Cover an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake at 350°F for 25-28 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out without a bunch of goopy, underbaked batter on it.

Notes

While this basic recipe only has five ingredients, there are a few things you can add to the batter to enhance it. Sometimes I will add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or 1/2 teaspoon espresso powder just to deepen the flavors.
