I recommend using a stand mixer or a hand mixer for this recipe. Without one of these, it’s difficult to achieve a smooth dip—and smooth is what we want!
In a bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, whipped topping and cocoa powder. Optional: I like to add a pinch of sea salt!
Whip the ingredients together on medium speed until completely smooth.
Add your chocolate chips to the mixture, saving a few to sprinkle on the top. Mix the chocolate chips in at low speed. Next, transfer the dip to a small bowl and top with more chocolate chips.
Serve surrounded by dipping options.

Use a stand mixer or hand mixer to achieve a very smooth dip (no lumps allowed!).
In addition to chocolate chips, you can mix some crushed cookies into your dip if you like.
Most recipes include butter, but I tried it without and it isn’t necessary at all.
