Ingredients

  • 6 ounces coffee
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • teaspoon cayenne
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ cup whipped cream optional

Instructions

  • First brew 6 ounces of hot coffee. You can do this by using any coffee brewing method you prefer.
  • Mix together the brown sugar, cocoa, cinnamon, cayenne and milk. The goal is to dissolve the sugar and fully incorporate the other ingredients so no lumps remain. I think adding all the ingredients to a jar with a lid and shaking well works great, or you could use a small whisk or milk frothing wand.
  • Pour the spiced milk into a mug.
  • Then pour the hot coffee in.
  • Top with whipped cream if using.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the sweetness or spices of this recipe to your liking.
You can use any kind of milk, including milk alternatives like oat milk.
If you like/need, you can use decaf coffee for this recipe as well.
