Felt Leaf Wall Decor DIY

Ingredients

  • felt in the colors of your choosing
  • leaf templates
  • fabric scissors
  • wooden beads (I used the 12mm size)
  • twine (1.5mm thickness is what I used)
  • large needle big enough to fit your twine
  • 1″ dowel rod cut to about 30″ long
  • drill and drill bits

Instructions

  • Download the leaf template and trace the leaf pattern onto your felt sheets so you have a few different shapes in a few different colors.
  • To prepare your dowel rod, cut it to length if it’s longer than you want, and drill a hole through each end (about 1″ away from the edge) that’s big enough for your twine to go through. Cut a long piece of twine and thread each end through the holes and tie so you have a string to hang your wall hanging from (adjust the length of string to your liking).
  • Next, you’ll want to take your leaves and thread your needle with some twine so you can create a bit of a line down your leaf with the stitching.
  • Make a knot at one end of the twine, trim the excess, and come through the front of the leaf near the bottom so the knot will be hidden in back. Then, make some large even stitches in and out up the leaf until you get to the top as you see in the photos above. Make another knot and add some wooden beads to your twine. Tie your leaves at varying lengths so they are staggered in height and slide them close together until they are almost touching. Trim the excess string from the twine and you are ready to hang!
