Equipment

  • 1 oven
  • 1 microwave safe bowl or double broiler
  • 1 sheet of parchment paper
  • 1 paintbrush new or food-safe

Ingredients

  • 1 box cupcake mix any flavor
  • 1 box sugar cones
  • 1 container cream cheese frosting add green food coloring
  • 1 container cupcake icing green
  • 1 package chocolate coating
  • 1 bag black licorice
  • 24 candy eyes

Instructions

  • Make your cupcakes following the box mix or using your favorite recipe from scratch.
  • For the witch hat, melt a pack of candy coating. I used a clean/unused paintbrush to brush the chocolate onto the cone.
  • Once the cones are covered in chocolate, pour remaining chocolate onto parchment paper in small circles.
You want the chocolate circles to be larger than the cones opening, but only by a little bit. The perfect size is about one inch more than the cones opening.
  • Press the chocolate covered cones into the chocolate circles and let them dry completely. Perfect witch hats!

Notes

-I used two different types of green icing and I was so glad to have options.
-Dark chocolate is dark enough for the witch hats. No need to add black food coloring.
-Black licorice Twizzlers make the perfect witch hair. I cut them into two-inch pieces.
