Spicy Mango Michelada

Keyword michelada
Servings 1 person

Ingredients

  • Mexican beer I used Modelo
  • 1 ounce mango puree*
  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice
  • ½ ounce Worcestershire sauce
  • 4-6 dashes of hot sauce
  • salt for rimming
  • ancho chile pepper and lime wheel/wedge for garnish

*Mango Puree

  • 2 ripe mangoes peeled, pitted and cut into chunks
  • cup sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons water

Instructions

  • First, make your mango puree. This can be made ahead of time for easy assembling if you’re entertaining. Combine mangoes, sugar, and water in a blender and puree until smooth. The mango puree is so easy to make and much more delicious to make fresh over buying packaged purees.
  • Now it’s time to assemble. The best part about Micheladas is how easy they are to put together. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip into salt. Next, add your lime juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce and mango puree to the glass. Stir this mixture with a spoon until it is smooth. Also, feel free to adjust the hot sauce to your preference. For me, nothing can be too spicy, so I tend to go a little heavy on the hot sauce.
  • Fill your glass with ice and then top with your favorite light Mexican beer. Stir well and garnish with a dusting of ancho chile pepper and a lime wedge or wheel.
