I’m spending the weekend in Kansas City, MO with my book club friends. We are likely eating lots of delicious food, shopping and making each other laugh. While I’m looking forward to welcoming our second son this summer, I am trying to soak up any weekends away or nights out with friends while I can since fellow parents of newborns know it takes a little while before you regain some adult independence from the feeding-sleep schedule (or lack thereof) that babies demand. I love my life now and I am looking forward to what the rest of this year will bring too. It’s going to be different but good. Anyway, here are 10 things I’ve been loving lately.
1. I mentioned this stained glass artist a while back, but wanted to show the commission piece I got from her as it hangs in my office and every afternoon when the sunlight streams through the glass it brings me joy.
2. I just bought this set from Cocokind, one of my favorite skincare brands.
3. Obsessed with these checkered throw blankets. We already had a tan one I was gifted and I just bought a green one and a lavender one for our downstairs couch as the throws I had in that room are just looking super worn out and needed replacing.
4. Bought a beautiful charm necklace from this handmade artist. It was one of a kind but she has lots of other pretty things in her shop.
5. I’m currently reading Remarkably Bright Creatures and loving it so far. Every paragraph is like poetry. I am continuously impressed when writers can pull that off.
6. Speaking of writing, I am hard at work on the audio version of Handmade Murder. I am crossing my fingers it will be available on or before the six-month anniversary of my book’s launch (end of April).
7. Elsie’s Agua Fresca post has me in the mood to make more drinks beyond just hot tea. Does this mean spring is here?
8. Speaking of spring, if you are in need of some projects for kids this weekend or any weekend, check out this guide to 40+ Spring Crafts for Kids we put together over at Childhood Magic.
9. I am working on the room that will become our son’s nursery and getting this wallpaper hung on one accent wall. At the same time, I decided to get an accent wall for Oscar’s room too, and he’s getting this paper. I’m in love with them both so much!
10. We made a big batch of these peanut butter cookies and they are now in our freezer so we can pull out 1-3 to bake in the evenings while we continue our Star Trek: The Next Generation marathon.
P.S. Here are some recent posts in case you missed them!

So happy you posted the stained glass piece – I’ve been curious about it since you mentioned it on the pod! It’s gorgeous!! Def saving the Etsy because I would love to have one too!
Speaking of Bookclubs and books…. Have y’all ever been to a Book Festival? My Bookclub and I go to the annual one in Savannah and I’ve gotten to hear Shelby Van Pelt (Remarkably Bright Creatures) and TJ Klune (Under the Whispering Door). So amazing!! Emma it would be amazing to hear you as the author speak too!!!
I love the two wallpapers that you are doing!
Not the vagina haha!! I love both wallpapers, but the one for Oscar’s room is just SO pretty! Congratulations on a second baby boy. Two little boys close to age will be the sweetest🥰🥰
Yes, we’d be happy either way but two boys feels right for our family so we’re excited.
Emma, that stained glass art piece is stunning! I was going to ask if that is what I think it is, and yes, yes it is 😀 I want one!
Yes, it is. It’s one of the things this artists makes often in all sorts of colors and designs. They are all really pretty
Very cool stained glass! Honest curiosity – is it supposed to be a vagina?? That was my immediate thought as I scrolled passed it!
Wait the stain glass piece looks like… can it be? Is it.. female private parts (not sure what I can type out in this section)? Or am I seeing things that aren’t there?
