How to style a braided chignon

Braided Tuck TutorialI'm all about simple hairstyles these days. I mean, there is really no point in even curling your hair here in Missouri unless you're staying inside for the whole day. Curls + humidity do not = awesome. Braided Hair Tuck StepsStep 1: Take a small section of hair on one side of your head and braid. Step 2: Underneath the braid, take another section of hair and twist. Repeat on the other side. Step 3: Gather the braids and the twists at the back of your head and secure with a pony tail holder. Steps 4-6: Take the hair that is left down and tuck it into the smaller braids. Secure with bobby pins if necessary. My hair was too long for a simple tuck, so I braided the back before I tucked! xoxo. Katie

  • Thank you for this great idea!

I love this up-do. I always need new ways to fix may hair fast without just throwing it in a bun. The video tutorial was extremely helpful. It’s simple enough to wear with a t-shirt but cute enough to wear with a dress. LOVE IT!

  • I love this chignon! Now I do it almost everyday 🙂 Kisses from Galicia (Spain) and sorry for my english!

  • I’m totally shocked to report that this actually works! I am a dunce when it comes to hair, and was very skeptical about this working, but alas, it did! The one thing I will say is that the braids have to be tied pretty tightly in order for them to actually hold the rest of the hair once it’s folded in. So excited to have an easy but fancy-looking hairstyle for everyday, I can definitely see this becoming a staple. Thanks Katie & E+E! ♥

  • I was wondering that if you are a proffessinal hair dresser? How beautiful!

  • I wore my hair like this today and received so many lovely compliments. My hair is super straight and fine so I had to secure it with Bobbie pins. So cute and so fancy.

  • Can I just say, I love your hair! It always looks so cute and the color is great 🙂 And, I’m going to have to try this hair tutorial this week – I think it would be perfect for work, and easy to do during my rushed mornings. Thanks Katie!

  • How beautiful!! Thank you for posting this tutorial…I love easy hairdos that are quick and look amazing! It looks especially good on your hair color!

  • I love this! I have curly hair and there is lots of humidity here in Sydney too, so I can relate! I love simply styles like this! I’ll be trying this one over the weekend, too.

  • This looks so pretty and easy! Do you reckon this will work with longer hair too, if I braid it?

  • I’ve got such fine hair that I never really attempt complex hair styles. They always fall. But this one is too cute to pass up. Hope it holds!

  • Loved The hair style< simple and elegant!!

  • Thank you very much for posting this tutorial. I am not the best at doing hair and when I tried this, it was even doable for me! Thank you-this is my new go-to hair style. (:

  • Have already tried this twice and love how easy it is! Not quite as perfect as Katie’s but hopefully I will have it down by my holiday in October so I can give the hair straighteners a rest 🙂 V x

  • Thanks for the tutorial, Katie! Your hairstyle looks so pretty. I’m not sure if I’d manage the last part of pinning the remaining hair in a bun as easily though!!

  • Goodness, way to make this look easy! I absolutely LOVE braids, so I’m totally into finding new ways to wear them 🙂

  • You are so right about the heat and curls. I was born in KCMO and I HATED brushing my hair because it would get all curled and tangly and my dad didn’t understand why I would scream my head off 🙂 Love this look! I can’t wait to (try) to recreate it on me!

  • Adorable! The video is absolute perfection 🙂

  • Looks so nice, my hair is now long enough for me to try this out! Love your hair colour!

  • I love the look, and in theory it’s quite simple, but I have a feeling this won’t hold up well in my super-thick hair :-/

  • This is great!

My hair is at a super-awkward length at the moment and I thought that I could spend my time braiding it. Well, surprise! I have the kind of hair that only gets thin at the ends when it’s really, really, really long, so all my braids look fat and awkward and aren’t long enough to go around my head. (I even learned how to dutch braid, fishtail braid, unicorn braid, french braid!) This is a great way I can use my braids! Thanks so much!

  • Such a pretty style. Hair is not my thing, but this looks easy enough for even me to do – great video!

  • It’s such a beautiful hairstyle, and I love your hair so much. I love adding a couple of braids to simple hairstyles, they always look better. I can’t wait to try this style out, it’s perfect 🙂
