What do people drink in Palm Springs at Christmas time? These are the questions that keep me up at night.
As you all know, one of my hobbies is pretending I live in Palm Springs. I’m the biggest wannabe Palm Springs resident ever.
Need a pair of giant sunglasses, bunch of giant pool floaties that only get used once a year, or a drink with an umbrella themed after EVERY season?
I’m here for you!
Now let’s see if I can pull off a holiday-flavored Mai Tai! It’s still super fruity and delicious, but I replaced a couple flavors with cranberry and clementine. Does that count? (Please say yes?!)
Holiday Vibes Mai Tai, serves one.
cranberry juice
pineapple juice
juice of two clementines
juice of 1/2 a lime
grenadine syrup
dark rum (or whatever rum you have on hand!)
In a shaker combine 3 ounces cranberry juice, 3 ounces pineapple juice, clementine juice, lime juice, 1 ounce grenadine syrup and 2 ounces of dark rum.
I garnished mine with green sugar sprinkles, some fresh cranberries, a clementine wedge and an umbrella—of course!
The green sugar rim is a little cray, but I think it makes it more festive.
Well, there you go! I’ve just provided you with a reasonable excuse to make a Mai Tai in the middle of winter. You owe me big time.
Cheers to the best holiday season ever! The holidays aren’t perfect, but cocktails help. xx- Elsie

That is the best rum!!
Elsie, I might just make these for my summer solstice celebration in Australia. I grew up in Ohio and Xmas in the summer heat down under is just not the same. I don’t understand how people can sing the traditional winter wonderland songs/decorate with Santa in a fur suit when there’s never any snow in the sub tropics. Beach it up is going to be my plan this year! 😉
I just had my first mai tai last week and loved it! This looks so good!

This looks so good. I had no idea that’s how they got the sugar on the glass. Mush simpler than I though http://www.hannamarielei.com

Hahah, I grew up in Palm Springs, and let me tell you, I wish we had known about this AMAZING beverage while I was there ;). We definitely had ice-cream and pool parties year round, I’ll tell you that much!
I Envy you pool parties for Christmas. Althought we live where it can snow a lot. We never go sledding lol.
THE PICTURE OF THE GREEN SUGAR ON THE PLATE LOOKS LIKE A PINEAPPLE.
