Lately, I've been styling my hair in knots instead of braids. I shared a photo on instagram and got a bunch of requests for a how-to. Well, here you go. It really is just tying your hair up in knots and adding a few bobby pins. Here we go…
This style is super easy to achieve. First, pull your hair into two low pigtails. Divide each side into two pieces and tie as many knots as your length will allow for (I do four on each side). I pull the pieces upwards as I am tying the knots. Before you pin, use your fingers to loosen each knot. Secure with as many bobby pins as needed. I don't use any hairspray, but if you have finer hair it might be a good idea. 🙂 That's it!
I love how the knots create a more textured look than regular maiden braids. As my hair is getting longer, I am trying to experiment with styles that didn't work for me at shorter lengths. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! xo. Elsie

I have just tried this and I love it! When I took it out it left my hair with a lovely curl to it as well. Thank you so much for this, it will save me lots of time faffing about with different hair dos in the mornings!

cute! I wonder if my hair is long enough for this. I’m still growing it out, and it is in the awkward stage.

I did this hairstyle today and all of my students loved it! (I am a teacher in Spain) We had to spend the last part of class having a hairstyling session so they all could learn how to do it. Great style, thanks for sharing!
I love it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really suit me. 🙁

love this! my hair is too long and thick…didn’t look this cute. on another note…where did you get the top? it’s super cute!!
I tried this and I ended up looking like a Gibson girl, which was not at all the look I was going for! I don’t know how you keep your hair from poofing out on the side when you pull it upwards like that, because that is what happens to me every time I try this style or maiden braids. Maybe I was born about 100 years too late, because I could rock the Gibson girl look easily if a side poof was still in fashion!
I LOVE this so much that I tried it! (Check the first picture on this post: http://bit.ly/VjO3Uk) Great post!
I have a friend who is braid obsessed lately and she loves that I have long hair! I have to show this to her. 🙂
