I’m really excited to announce the ABM book club selection for October. Many readers have requested for the book club to look into reading a few classics now and again. Guess what, we listened! 🙂 In October we will be reading The Great Gatsby.Â
I’m really excited to refresh my memory on this one. I read this book back when I was in high school (so it’s been over 10 years!). Maybe you’ve read it too, but it’s been a while? You should totally join us next month. Or if you’ve never read The Great Gatsby, then you should for sure join us as this one is a real treat. If you don’t read, guys, there’s a movie version too. So… options.
The ABM book club will also have a rad guest moderator next month, Elise Blaha Cripe. Elise is a good friend, fellow blogger (did you read her goal setting post this week?). I’ve received many awesome book recommendations from her site, so I’m super excited to have her moderate for us in October.
And don’t forget: we’ll be discussing Middlesex with Danielle on September 30th. I can’t wait to see what you all thought of this month’s book as it’s sort of… different. Abnormal. Extraordinary. It should be a good discussion, so please join in. xo. Emma

One of the easiest classic read! Short yet compelling and at the same time heartbreaking! 🙂 Way to go for the book club!
The Interestings is a great book that I ended up picking up a copy of it for myself after reading the library book. Thank you for the book club.
One of the greatest books ever.
WOOOHOO! A book I can join in on! I reread this before the Leo DiCaprio movie. This is by far and away my most favorite novel ever! I usually read this once or twice a year. Tom, Daisy, Gatsby, Nick, Myrtle, all of them are like long lost friends when I go to read about the East and West Egg.
I cannot wait for this 🙂
Thank you for picking a classic book. I actually had this one on my bookshelf. So I pulled it out and put it on my nightstand.
I couldn’t get September’s book, but I was able to get January’s book (The Interestings)from the library.
October is looking like it will be a busy reading month between my book club book, The Great Gatsby, The Shining Girls, and Mockingjay.
Only one of the best books EVER! I may have to jump on board and re-read this one!
That’s awesome, I haven’t read it but bought it recently. I’m glad I held off reading it til now!
This is the kick in the pants I need in order to finish this book! Looking forward to October now. 🙂
The Great Gatsby is hands-down my favorite book ever! Well, it may be tied with Their Eyes Were Watching God which is also such a fantastic novel. So awesome to see Elise moderating! (p.s. this may be forward and annoying, but if you guys are ever looking for moderators for your book club, I’d love to help out! One of my majors is English so I’ve read many a book!)

This is an amazing book! I confess I read it after watching the 1970s and most recent version of the film, however I found it an incredibly pleasant read. I was stuck at an airport for 7 hours and read t all. It was a great companion. Certainly worth the read.
xx
I read this for school a couple of years ago, keen to give it a go looking at it from my own perspective, rather than something to write essays about!!
I read this a couple of years back and became my favourite book (hense the blog name), definitely going to get reading again.

I just watched the newest version of this movie and it was sooo sad!
I’ve had a copy of The Great Gatsby for a while now and it’s been on my to-be-read pile. I guess this will be the perfect opportunity to finally pick it up and read. Should be fun reading with fellow ABM readers! <3

I just read that few months ago for the first time (my high school read several excerpts or different books so I’ve been trying to catch up some of the popular classics) and this one was definitely on my “favorite” list!
Oooh! I’ve always wanted to read F. Scott Fitzgerald’s work, this will be a great one to start with! x

Read The Great Gatsby a long (long) time ago (freshman year of high school). Great book!
Hello
New to book club and can’t wait to get started with this classic!
Does anyone know where I can grab this free for Kindle?
Eeee 🙂

I’ve never read this book and I regret being more into reading in high school. This is totally on my to-read list now!
I read this last year for my high school junior year & really loved it. I was sort of expecting to hate it, too.
…maybe imagining Leo as Gatsby helped a little 🙂
I’ll totally have to reread it with you guys! It’s much better than “How to Read Literature Like a Professor,” the next book I have to get through for English class. *sigh*
