I am getting my kiddos ready for back to school and starting to do a little fall shopping for myself as well. I can’t help it—back to school just puts me in the mood for fall candles and spooky movies. I can almost taste the pumpkin spice already.
1. I’m currently reading The Light Pirate and wowwww, it’s good. I am also really enjoying Feel Something, Make Something this week. Highly recommend both!
2. The picture above makes my kitchen appear (a lot) more polished than it currently is, but I am feeling at home and enjoying the process of slowly settling in. Most of my copper pots are vintage finds except for this little guy. Also, I am in love with our stag kettle and here is a more affordable dupe.
3. If you want a fun project, start making our Halloween Countdown Calendar now while there’s still no rush (it counts down every day in October!) Or you can browse all our Halloween projects and recipes.
4. I just got this ice cream maker and made ice cream for the first time. It’s really easy to use and I can’t wait to try more recipes—maybe some Jeni’s recipes next!
5. If you’re looking for a cute Halloween mug, this one is adorable.
6. I just got a new makeup bag and it inspired a HUGE cosmetics clean out that is still ongoing. Organizing is the best feeling.
7. Something I have been searching Etsy for is frame TV art. We just added a frame TV above our fireplace and I want it to look like art the majority of the time. Love this one and this one and still hunting for seasonal options like this!!!!
8. I just got this dress and the fit is so good. It’s the perfect date night dress for this time of year.
9. Our soup page is looking so delicious! I’m so so excited for soup season.
10. I’m itching to decorate for Halloween (probably on Sept. 1) and so far I know I am doing giant spiders on the outside of our home and floating candles above our kitchen island. Please send me any and all Halloween ideas—I’m so excited!
P.S. Here are some recent recipes in case you missed them!

For me, my daughter’s birthday is the last hurrah of summer, so I’m ready for fall by mid-Aug! Bring on the pumpkins!!! I managed to check out a digital copy of Light Pirate from Libby. Thanks for suggesting my next read! I think I also still have Station 11 queued and am almost done reading Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. I guess you’ve suggested a lot of my recent reads.
ABM always comes through with the Halloween inspiration! This year I want to try to make a Skeleton Witch riding a broomstick flying over the roof of my house. I have no idea how to execute this, but I’m sure you gals could figure it out!
The Light Pirate is my favorite book of the last several years! I absolutely loved it!
It’s been such a hot summer – I’m even more excited for fall and soup season, too! 🙂
As a born and raised Floridian I’m so excited to read the Light Pirate. Always love reading books about places I’ve lived or traveled to, especially when they touch on relevant issues to the region (such as climate change
I’m sure it will be heart wrenching to read- but it’s such a good book! I hope you like it.
