How to Make Vanilla Extract

Equipment

  • clean jar with lid

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces vodka
  • 1-2 vanilla bean pods

Instructions

  • Fill a clean, empty bottle with vodka and vanilla bean split down the middle.
  • Seal your bottle and let it soak for 2 months or more. 
  • You don’t have to refrigerate, simply store in a cool, dark place like a cabinet or pantry.

Notes

Use unflavored vodka. And you can use any brand so feel free to use the cheap stuff or whatever you may have leftover / on hand.
Use emptied vanilla bean pods - after you have scraped out the seeds for use, the emptied pods are used for vanilla extract.
