Since sharing my moving news, I have been overwhelmed by support, personal stories, and “you won’t regret its.” Thank you, thank you, thank you!
In all my years of sharing life online, this was one of the most supportive months. Our family is so excited to move into this new season. I love and appreciate you!
1. Now about that rom com closet. There is so much in this home I am going to miss. It’s not going to be easy to say goodbye.
The spaces I think I will miss most (in addition to this closet) are the movie room, the outdoor space and the Narnia library. No tears (yet)!
2. Danny Loves Pasta is my favorite person to follow on TikTok. He has a cookbook coming out this summer. I’ve never pre-ordered something so fast. Very excited!
3. Rylee and Cru has some really cute stuff for spring/summer. I got this cozy sweatshirt with shorts and this swimsuit with a matching one for my daughter (the one that’s currently into matching with me).
4. Serena & Lily is having their 20% off sale right now. I love this wicker chair. And even though I’m not in the market, I have to say this floor lamp is a work of art.
5. Next time I organize my kitchen I want to use these pretty canisters.
6. Currently watching The Last of Us and the show is pretty good, but episode 3 … WOWWW. Did anyone else think it was the greatest episode of TV you’ve seen?
I was absolutely bawling by the end, which is how I measure how much I love TV and movies.
7. This green purse is so cute.
8. I love my cocktail shaker. I’ve been making so many new cocktails for the blog this season. I can’t wait to share them with you.
9. For our new home, I bought 90% antique lighting fixtures, but here are the ones I bought new: Metal Lanterns / Hand Sconce / Oval Crystal Chandelier / Round Crystal Chandelier.
By the way, do you think it’s weird or normal to start with lighting? Someone brought it up to me that they thought it was unique.
I think I have spent so much time in my mood boards now that it feels like I am farther along in the design process than I actually am.
10. I just got a new knife set and I feel fancy (it’s the gold!).
P.S. Here are a some recent posts in case you missed them!
I love your lighting choices. I’m shopping for a new chandelier now and especially like yours. I’m curious if you consider taking lighting fixtures with you when you move. I want to invest in a splurgy fixture, but I can’t imagine leaving it behind if I move.
TLOU had me weeping… lol
Starting with lighting feels normal to me. I don’t know why, but I love light fixtures. Light fixtures and tile. We bought into a flip over a year ago and were able to make a lot of choices about design. I went crazy and bought a whole bunch of light fixtures. In the end (for a large variety of reasons–mostly financial, but some having to do with contractor) I was only able to use one. I have a whole corner of light fixtures in my basement now for a “someday” project. LOL. Anyhoo, I know the love, is what I’m saying.
Loveee the light fixtures. Can’t wait to see what you have throttled! Lighting was the first thing we started with in our home. I think it’s the easiest way to really update and set the mood for a space. I also feel like the lighting can really anchor the vibe of a room. I’ve made most of my other design decisions based on the lighting styles I’ve chosen for our home.
How do you like the knives so far? Was thinking about investing in some way too expensive Japanese knives (but are supposed to be the best/good longevity)…but it’s much more appealing to only spend $60 for a set! haha
Also congrats on the new home/move!! I am in a similar boat- my husband and I moved from NYC (lived the ‘You’ve Got Mail’ life on the Upper West Side for several years 😭💚- it was even better than the movie), but we decided to move closer to family in Northwest Arkansas last year. It has been a *major* adjustment, but having my sisters, mom, nephews/neice’s close has been such a gift getting to be the ultimate Aunt I always wanted to be. 🙂 The slower pace has been a nice change too. I hope this next season for your family is filled with so much joy! (NYC will always be there for another day 😘) xo
Hi A.K.
The knives are great. I was replacing some Ikea knives I used for years. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to compare them to fancy Japanese knives because I’ve never bought any (they sound amazing though!) xx
