Sister Style: Peanut Butter Coffee

Sister Style at a coffee shopSister Style at a coffee shopEmma (A Beautiful Mess)Sister Style at a coffee shopDo you guys have nostalgic foods? We sure do. Peanut butter coffee drinks remind us of the olden days because it's something we would have ordered in high school. There's a certain pizza place that reminds us of when we used to photograph weddings together (forever ago!). There's a pizza place in our grandparent's town that is literally a slice of our childhood (I guess we really like pizza, huh?). And pretzels at the mall remind us of our mom. What about you? What are your favorite memory foods?

  • We are fascinated and also thinking about what you are currently talking about right here.

  • Cute style! And that coffee?? Yum!

    Juliette Laura

  • you both look wonderful! such cute dresses.
stewed apples on bread reminds me of arriving at our grandparents at night after the long drive into the city.

  • Pop corn made on the stove reminds me of my sister and family! Especially my mom.. it was the only things she was good at cooking 🙂

  • Jana- We were at Heroes. It’s on Boonville just north of the Square. 🙂

  • I love peanut butter coffee! I always get it at the Mudhouse. I am curious where you are having peanut butter coffee. <3

  • I can’t remember ever seeing a peanut-butter coffee drink, but now I want to try one. For me, breakfast burritos mean visiting family in Austin, blue slushies mean sunny days during sophomore year, and cinnamon toast is the taste of childhood.

  • Emma, put peanut butter coffee on your list of recipes to try:) I have some great food memories.

Eating grapefruit with a serrated spoon will always remind me of my mom:

  • wait wait wait… peanut butter coffee?? recipe please!!

  • peanut butter coffee drinks? I’ve never heard of them… sounds like something I could get used too! uh oh.

  • Peanut butter coffee huh? Sounds amazing!

    xo Jennifer

  • I finish a jar of crunchy peanut butter all by myself in two weeks. It is my favorite thing. I don’t have a particular nostalgic food or restaurant though.

    Kindness is the best accessory,

  • That sounds so yummy! Never tried pb and coffee together before. I love the dress and the knit blouse!

  • Ah! Pretzels in the mall. Totally remind me of my mom too. Just the smell can take me right back to trying to find Guess jeans skinny enough to fit my scrawny 7th grade legs.

  • Elsie your hair color is mesmerizing! I am so in love with it.

What color is it? So beautiful.

  • dear elsie, dear emma,
I have to come out and say how much i love your blog. you’re my daily read, my biggest inspiration and part of the reason why i dare to blog myself. a heartfelt thank you to you two, then ♥
I’m so looking forward to your book(s), too. Will import them the second they are out.(I’m from germany so wish me luck with that! ^^)

  • Not a huge fan of coffee but my love for peanut butter can easily overcome it.

  • I’ve never had peanut butter and coffee! Sounds good!

  • Mmhhhmm, peanut butter coffee, never heard about that.Need to try this,do you know where I can find a recipe?
My nostalgic food would be hot dog sausages in puff pastry.Always made it with my mom!

  • You girls are so gorgeous. Foods are such a powerful memory trigger for me. Corned beef reminds me of my grandma, a certain ginger cake reminds me of my mum and now my wedding.. what a better way to share memorable moments than with food.

    xo Emily @

  • Peanut butter coffee??? What?! Sounds delightfully addictive.

Great photos! You ladies look lovely!

    Wishing you a wonderful week.

  • love it, love it, love it!!!!

  • That’s so funny you mentioned peanut butter. My mom hates peanut butter, so we never had it growing up. Now I just love it and put it on everything. So for me it’s the opposite. When I eat peanut butter, I’m reminded of NOT having peanut butter growing up. On a side note, peanut butter coffee sounds AMAZING!

  • You both have amazing style (LOVE your dress!) and, I am totally craving a frozen drink now

  • Peanut butter coffee?! I must try this. Great post! Hope you’re having a great weekend 🙂

    Diary of a Debutante

  • I love your Outfits!

Peanut butter coffee sounds great, I don’t think they have it where I live…

    xo, Jule

  • Looking adorable as usual!

I have to say that my memories foods are my mom’s homemade mac and cheese and her homemade pink applesauce! Best thing ever!

  • Oh my! YUMMM! Peanut butter coffee?

I needs me that knit top too xxx

  • Peanut butter coffee!!! YUM!!! =)

  • I can really relate! Now that I’m living in a completely different country, there are so many foods that I can’t get here that totally remind me of childhood and I know that when I start dreaming about them, it’s time to get on the plane and pay home a visit. This includes, sliced of pizza, black and white cookies, and anything my mom makes. Btw, peanut butter coffee sounds absolutely awesome!

  • Sounds delicious! I’ve never had it before, but I feel I must try 🙂

  • Cute dress. But yes, I too have a nostalgic food which is sort of similar. It wasn’t peanut-butter coffee, but rather a peanut-butter shake. It reminds me of the days my father was in town because he’d always take my brother and I to the nearest joint and grab ourselves a good ol’ peanut-butter shake. Funny how food is also connected to memories eh?

  • You girls are gorgeous! Mint chocolate chip ice cream always reminds me of being a little girl in my hometown and going to Friendly’s… not sure if you have Friendly’s restaurants where you are!

  • My nostalgic food is peanut butter toast. I still eat it pretty much every single morning. However, it still tastes better when mum makes it.;)

    Great post. xo dina

  • Love the Blog the two of you have created!

I must know how to make the peanut butter coffee….it sounds amazing!

A food that takes me back for a childhood memory is a Grilled Peanut Butter & Marshmallow sandwich. It is cooked
like you would a grilled cheese. Use the small marshmallows and to cover one side with them stuck into your peanut butter….the of course more peanut butter on the other side close it up and butter the outside pieces of bread & grill! Yummmmmm!!!!!

  • yuuuuuum. i want to try that!
pretzels at the mall make me think of my mom, too 🙂

  • You both look lovely :)I love Emma’s knit top. And peanut butter coffee sounds divine x

  • love this white sweather! <3

  • oh gosh ! i’m in coffee heaven, that looks soo good!

  • Making crepes always reminds me of my grandmother, although going out for crepes doesn’t do the same thing. Which was an interesting discovery, because it’s not something I ever did with her. She used to bring Hungarian pancakes over though, so it’s close.

Really good ice cream takes me back to walking along the beach downtown in highschool with an old friend.

  • Peanut butter coffee? No way! I’m addict to peanut butter so I really need to try this ! I’m not sure if I can find it in my town…

  • I love how you two styled your hair! ♥♥♥

    Yumm!!I’ll definitely try this

  • The coffee looks SO GOOD! I’m craving some ice coffee right now and you guys look amazing! Thanks for sharing again 🙂

  • I love anything with peanut butter in and this sounds amaze!!

Love your outfits girls! I have to say both you girls are my style crushes, as you always look amazing 🙂

    Lulu xx

  • is it weird that my favourite memory food is banana? btw, love EVERYTHING! (as always)

  • Hello girls, just stumbled upon your blog and must say what a great find.

Peanut butter coffee? seriously??? I mean i like peanut butter and all but not with coffee. You Americans sure are creative when it comes to food and drinks.

    Ivy (your new avid reader)

  • I love your sister style posts, I wish my sisters live closer so we could do it too.
    This first picture is awesome!
My memory foods are sweet semolina that my Mom prepared for us when we were kids when we couldn’t afford a normal meal and we litterely loved it. I think I’ll prepare some for my children when I’m a mom. Also from time to time, my mom would let us have chips while watching a movie at night and she’d put a huge bowl for us to eat.
Purée mouseline and crèpes au Nutella are also memory food from my childhood. 🙂

  • Hmmm, I can’t say that peanut butter in my coffee sounds good. But as a child I remember eating giant slices of watermelon in the backyard with the juice dripping down our arms and then running around under the sprinkler to wash it off.

  • Oo, that coffee looks so yummy. Now I am going to drink one. Have a nice day.

  • pretzels at the mall would definitely remind me of my mom too! And double McDonalds cheeseburgers remind me of Friday after school with my girlfriends!

  • Thief and Bandit hurrah! I totally rocked the mountain twirl dress at a wedding we went to…so much fun, I am in love with Amie’s goodies!

  • I need one of those. Now. At 12:26am.

    xo Lisa

  • I love your dress Elsie :3
Peanut butter is the best flavor, or at least on of the good ones
    both of you looks pretty.

  • I love the fact that I can miss just a few days of your blog and the moment I check back, I am overwhelmed with cute, yummy, creative, colorful ideas to flood my mind. Such a pleasure! The moment I found you, the moment I was hooked! Thanks for doin’ your thang.

  • Very pretty ladies!! I really love the out and about sister style features so great. They are my favorite.

  • Yummy! Never would have thought of having peanut butter coffee!

    x Sara @

  • Food memories are some of the best. 🙂

Whenever I see/smell chili (like the canned kind) I think of going to the concession stand at our high school football games. It’s like being transported.

And when I see/cook roast I think of Sunday lunches made by my mom.

This was such a fun post to read. And I’ve never heard of PB coffee drinks, but now I’m curious to try one.

  • i LOVE your dress, and mmm, coffee.. my favorite memory food is concession stand hamburgers. they remind me of high school color guard, football games, half time.. 🙂

  • I love you two, discovered you about 4 weeks ago and I’m addicted to your blog! My fave childhood treat? Growing up in Germany there was a raspberry-champagne (!!) popsicle that was only on the market for one summer before they took it off. I was about 13 years old I think and I had one every day 🙂 Haha only in Europe!

  • Oh. My. Word. Peanut butter + coffee sounds like heaven! I would LOVE to know the recipe!

  • Any dutch dish reminds me of home. (dutch style) pancakes with apple too!
Penne with pesto sauce remind me of when I lived in London, it was all I ate.. lol
“broodje frikandel” comparable to a hot dog reminds me of high school and meatballs of my dad, he makes the best ones with cheese in them!!

  • Yum peanut butter coffee! I have never heard of it but it sounds delish!! Great pics too, you ladies always look gorgeous 🙂 x

  • Really great cappuccinos remind me of when I studied in Italy. And hot Krispy Kreme donuts remind me of high school/college late-night donut runs. I love the way food and scents can take you back to another time in your life!

  • Einstein’s bagels are very nostalgic for me! I used to go there when I was in elementary school, and then in middle school. I don’t have one near me now but when I travel and get einstein’s……. :’)
I’ve never actually had a peanut butter coffee! I’ll have to try one

  • That crocheted top is so beautiful!

    Jillian –

  • When it comes to applying memories to food and flavour, oddly enough, flavoured coffedrinks really fit the description. Never peanutbutter though, that’s a new combo! Cinnamon, coconut & vanilla flavoured latte with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top was was I lived on during high school and naturally, the only place that made those right would be a big part of that memory. If I had that today I would probably die for overindulging in sugar… Nowadays if I feel a sweet craving, hazelnut syrup does the trick.

  • Mmm peanut butter and coffee sounds so good! I wonder why I never tried it before!

    Prabal Gurung for Target Giveaway!

  • I LOVE Emma’s outfit, there’s something about it that makes it amazing!

  • Interesting! I’ve never heard of peanut coffee!

    Stephanie May*

  • I’m quite a big fan of anything with peanut butter, so I’m pretty excited to try this out! And I’m obsessed with Emma’s top, I’ll probably write a post around that shirt alone.

    – Juliana

  • I don’t think I’ve ever tried a peanut butter drink, which is odd because I have a peanut butter obsession. They sounds delicious!

  • Peanut butter coffee? Hmm, I’m not much of a coffee girl, but a good dose of peanut butter might make me change my mind!
Love both of your styles! 🙂

P.S here is a link to my blog

  • Yummy!… peanut butter..delicious!!
    really love these photos. <3

  • Lovely looks! Both of you 🙂 peanut butter coffee sounds perfect, I love peanut butter and coffee! We don’t have it in Amsterdam 🙁

  • I have to say that my nostalgic food (better say, snack) is typical from where I was born and spent my childhood. It is pão de queijo which is a kind of cheese bread like thing. I had to give it up when I became Vegan but fortunately, I had finally found a vegan recipe and now I can enjoy it again! 🙂
    Love your outfits!

  • Oh, I love peanut butter and coffee, separately. I’ve never had them together but that sounds amazing! I was so hoping you had a recipe!

You both always look so cute, but I particularly love Elsie’s hair today!

I love modcloth and just did a review for a company with a similar style.

  • You are always so beautiful and nice!! 😉
And delicious food as usual <3

  • Yum, peanut butter coffee sounds aweomse! and your outfits are super cute!

  • Love both of your shoes! So fun!

  • You guys are both so beautiful! I absolutely adore the first picture of Elsie and the last picture of Emma. <3

  • Lasagna reminds me of my mom, but now I make my own vegetarian version.

  • I’ve never had a peanut butter coffee drink, it sounds really delicious!

  • Chocolate Chip cookies definitely are great nostalgia foods. I love em cause my mom always made em for me.

  • Ooh, peanut butter coffee. I have to try it now.

I love Emma’s blouse! And Elsie’s dress is really cute and totally suits you. This might sound funny, but I knit and crochet, and Emma’s blouse doesn’t look like it’s either. I believe it’s machine made lace (possibly chemical lace) intended to look like crochet. Not that anyone else probably cares, it’s just something that’s always bugged me when I’m reading catalogs or shopping online. 🙂

  • Oh I love these photos! Lovely post!

  • Peanut butter coffee is like a dream come true. I will try to make to tomorrow 🙂

  • Peanut Butter coffee sounds so good to me right now. That’s something I would have ordered in high school, too, when all the speciality coffees were first getting popular. Love this Sister Style. Emma’s top is gorgeous.

  • That sounds TO DIE FOR!

  • Peanut butter coffee totally reminds me of one of my friends who adores peanut butter so much. Like so much that she’s OK with getting a jar of PB for her B-day!

Elsie, I love your dress. It’s adorable!

  • I don’t like coffee but love peanut butter, would like to try one of these!

  • I’m totally nostalgic about food! Hot chocolate = adventures in the forestland as a kid. Waffles = sunny days together with my grandmother. Macaroni and meatballs = hanging out with daddy at his work. I could go on forever!

And you two are gorgeous. When I’m here I always wish I had a sister too…

  • Sister style is sooo working for you!

Nom, peanut butter coffee… double nom!

    Take Care!

  • Taco Bell bean and cheese burritos remind me of my grandpa; he would take me there after school sometimes in elementary 🙂

  • Peanut butter coffee sounds awesome! Can you post up a tutorial on how to make this wonderful-sounding drink? Thanks!

  • I love peanut butter. I’ve never had it with coffee though. Sounds like a deadly combo. Bubble Gum ice cream was a childhood favourite for me.
I’m loving Emma’s hair too! Looking lovely as always ladies 🙂
    xx Allison

  • I love peanut butter! I love how you two styled your hair! x
    Amy |

  • I just really want to have a sister or like a super bestfriend that I can share anything. Your pictures are so friggin pretty!! 🙂 it makes me smile. not to mention peanut butter coffee.. whaaaattt

  • You guys look awesome! Though I’m only eighteen (nineteen in a month!) whenever I have Philly Cheese Steaks it reminds me of high school and maple syrup reminds me of childhood summers in Vermont to see my grandpa who made the best syrup ever. Scents however definitely make me the most nostalgic.

  • Oh boy chai tea is the way to go for me. However, Bailey’s and ice cream also do the trick.

  • I love your blog. Such a fun one to read, and the photos are always excellent.

I was wondering…how long does a post like this take you to put together, between all of the different parts?

  • I’ve never tried peanut butter coffee but it sounds really good. I love both of your senses of style but I must say I particularly adore Elsie’s dress today!

  • You both look very cute! I have food like that too, but mostly scents remind me of things from way back. 🙂
