Although pear as a fruit usually makes me think of summer, the flavor profile of a spiced pear option with some ginger instantly becomes a fall or holiday season classic. A classic that deserves a place in our cocktail archive!
I thought it would be fun to to make a spiced pear and ginger cocktail that’s easy to throw together for the holidays, but I also wanted to make one that didn’t need super specialty ingredients like some spiced pear cocktails do (such as a pear simple syrup or an expensive spiced pear liquor).
Here’s the combo I found that’s easy and delish!
Sparkling Spiced Pear + Ginger Cocktail, serves one
2 ounces ginger beer (chilled)
2 ounces pear juice (chilled)
1 ounce spiced rum
Splash of sparkling water (chilled)
Pear and herbs (like sage or rosemary) for garnish
For this easy cocktail, simply mix your chilled ginger beer, chilled pear juice, and rum together in a glass (I love a simple coupe glass for this drink and this one is so pretty, too) and stir gently to combine.
I like this drink chilled but not super cold, but you can also mix and shake these ingredients in a martini shaker with ice if you want it really cold.
Cut some pear for your garnish and then add a splash of sparkling water to your drink to cut the spice and ginger taste a bit and add some bubbles.
Add in your pear and herb garnish and you’re ready to serve! If you’re loving the pear flavor in cocktails- be sure to try our Green Apple and Pear Chi-Chi Cocktail too!
So pretty and so simple to make! I love the warm spice in the rum and how it pairs (no pun intended) with the pear and ginger beer so you get that sweet yet spicy combo that feels really festive.
Hope this is a drink that you will enjoy this holiday season! xo Laura

This looks delish, but I have to say that your first sentence threw me off… Curious why pears make you think of summer? It of course varies a bit by state and by pear variety, but I believe the season for pears in the main pear-producing region of the U.S. (Northwest) runs August to early October. This is basically the same as apple season, which certainly make me think of fall, so pears feel like a fall fruit to me – and so this cocktails sounds perfect right now! Look forward to trying!
Haha, well I guess I eat pears in the summer so that’s why?
